Default Back deck engine screen

Does anyone know whether there are any aftermarket solutions to seal the screening on the back deck over the engine, so water won't enter the engine compartment when washing a C8?

Not aware of anything yet.

Suggestion. Wash while engine is cold. Prior to wash open engine cover hatch and place towels under area that water would drip into/onto. Close hatch and wash car. After washing open engine cover hatch and remove damp towels.

I've put frog tape over the vents of my car and it works fine to keep the water out. It's not a c8, but it should work fine.

Some users have applied painter's tape to keep out water, I've just been wiping down the engine compartment afterwards. You're going to open the hatch anyway to wipe down the area, it's only an extra few minutes to clean off the water spots. Plus, if you're at a DIY place, it gives you a chance to visit with complete strangers.

My car wash time has increased by 15-30 minutes since my C8 arrived!

It takes me at least 1 hour to wash and dry my C8 by the time I wipe the engine compartment, frunk and wheels.

I suspect that someone will come up with a device to simply lay on the screen while washing. This is a hint for someone to come up with the fix for this, and make $$$$ in the process.

Exploring the idea of using two part mold putty, Amazon has many varieties most cheap. Lay plastic food wrap carefully into each of the six hatch vents out in the paint areas then just press the mixed putty into each and wait till cured, some less than an hour. Planed right you could end up with just two composite strips of 3 plugs each, one custom fitted for each side.

Where's ACS? 6 molded pieces fitted over the vents with a pull tab on it. For the bottom window a slip on piece of weatherstrip to channel the water to the side. ACS I want C8 freebies!

Something such as a soft gel to throw on the screen would work fine.

I put towels in the engine compartment. Simple solution. Not touching the screens.

That idiot said it LEAKED into the engine compartment, like it was supposed to be sealed and it failed.

I dont know this guy and could care less about him, but in all fairness I watched the video and there are two titles 1) in the freeze frame (for lack of better words) is "Water Leaks?" note the question mark, and 2) the written title is "How much water gets into the engine bay on a 2020 Corvette C8?" He never mentions/said water leaked into the engine bay, but was simply wanting to find out exactly how much gets in there, and was surprised by the amount that did, which was most likely a surpirse for many who watched it.

If anyone is surprised by how much water can come in from 6 3X3 inch openings, then they probably shouldn't be buying a car.

Their is not much more water than when I washed my C7. Just takes a minute to wipe, dust everything up with damp towels from drying the car. None issue.

I hand wash my 2020 and 2017 Corvettes with a cold engine and wash the engine bay out at the same time. I've been doing this for a couple of years on the 2017 and finally decided last week when I washed the 2020 that this will be standard wash procedure on the 2020 from now on.

Quinten racing sellls exact fit covers , for that very thing. But they are a bit pricey.
