Why do you suppose GM has never put a camera or two on the assembly line?

I'd bet that there are security cameras all over in the GM plant; like in any other manufacturing plant. The footage is just not made public (which I think would be a bad idea).

Probably the same reason you don't put one in your bathroom. There are just some things that you don't want everyone to see

Why do you think that they don't allow cameras on plant tours ?

The United Auto Workers Union would never let that happen.

I hear that possibly there are people who job it is to be on camera all day every day, even while they are showering, or in bed with a special some. Wait especially in the showering and in bed part. A friend told me.... I mean some random guy at work... I wouldn’t have friends that would pay for something like that.

Live stream cameras would be a fun idea, but it's never going to happen for a number of reasons, some of which have already been mentioned. Yes, there are a large number of security cameras located throughout the plant, but there are a few primary reasons that live video footage is not going to happen.
First, new Corvette products that are being developed are eventually built on the assembly line before being revealed to the public. On more than one occasions, someone with a keen eye has seen something related to a future product on a public plant tour (myself included). This is why cell phones or cameras are not allowed on public tours. When tours are again available, you'll see blackout dates listed from time to time, which are often related to future product development and/or assembly. This is one of the main reasons for there not being a live stream video feed from the plant.
A second reason is the day to day assembly process itself. I can only imagine how the forums would blow up if there was an extended line stoppage for some reason, or an extended slowdown, etc. The sky is falling mentality that some have would lead to all sorts of doomsday scenarios every time something seemed amiss. I'd personally say no to live stream video if I was the plant director for just this reason alone!

Wouldn't it be nice to have web cams in the roll test area and in the Marriage area so owners could go on line and see the car roll off the line? All they would have to do is tape the last 6 of the vin somewhere visible and that would be it.
Don't say its for workers privacy issues because today there are cameras everywhere even at a McDonalds drive through.
