C8 vs C7 Z06 dig race
#21
Last run 1/4 mile finish mark (Z06 jumps on the C8 in this run and C8 only got 3.1 to 60 mph)

Much easier to launch the C8. Didn't look like the C7 driver has had much drag race experience. IMHO: With a high traction surface it just becomes a question of whether the C7 catches the C8 before the end of the quarter. With a good driver and good traction it probably will. With an average driver in the C7 it's probably a toss-up. With a below average driver in the C7, the C8 wins most of the time. On a poor traction surface, the C8 probably wins most of the time.

The Flagman didn't even turn to face the cars and the Z Left...

The C8 is just really quick off the line. It'll beat the C7 to 60 everytime, but not to 100. However, that won't matter much because unless you're on a drag strip the C8 will probably be more consistent at crossing first. Now if it's a roll? The C8 has no chance, you can see that they're dead even for a bit then the C7Z takes off. On the track...well lap times speak for themselves.
The quickest quarter miles come from, AWD, DCT, Mid Engine, and electric motors. The C7 has none of these and the C8 has two. Of course it will best it from a dig.
I'm waiting for the model that will have all 4 of those. That thing will be a true monster.

That C8 in the video shows as much acceleration and power as I would ever need or use. I don't really care about its terminal velocity or what it does after 80 MPH however I really doubt if it is going to fall on its face after that. It would appear that the engineers have optimized acceleration for where the car operates 99.9% of the time.

Then you shouldn’t buy a muscle car or sports car!!! You can get your ice cream cone in a Cruze or a highlander. Nothing worse than a guy who buys something like this and does 5 mph under the speed limit, gets his Sunday cone and puts her back under the car cover. So sad. But hey,he got the corvette baseball cap and the flag to hang up on the wall??? Just never understood this?!?!?!

I'll be sure to drive well above the speed limit at all times and never wear a hat if it helps your being at peace with yourself. You may want to do some self evaluation if these kind of things cause you such a level of distress. Never knew that guys who had Corvette items on the wall of their garage were "so sad". This virus has to be rotting some peoples cerebral cortex.

So basically the C8 is faster off the line 0-60 (which we all knew) however the C7 Z06 pulls away like a freight train once they get up to 80ish. In a roll race it would be a trouncing. Not really a big fan of drag races though. Heck I can buy a used P100D in the 50ish range and eat just about anything in a drag race while carrying 4 people.
I am much more interested in track times like the Nurburgring as that tests every aspect of the car such as aero, top speed, braking, handling, etc.. and gives a much better picture than a drag race which in this day and age is just flooring the gas pedal which a tweeny can do.
Really looking forward to the C8 Z06 and GS as I think they will be less of a touring car and more of a sports car than the base C8.

But its not true for smaller tracks. C8 will beat the z06.
Stradmann raced his c8 against his aventador on a small track. C8 beat it.

Yeah really, love it when guys talk down to posters who comment or engage in conversation about 0-60, or 1/4 mile.
How many laps do any of these road racers have at the "Ring", how many have ever seen the "Ring" or could even find it on the map.
How often will C8 owners be at road racing course beating the snot out of their cars, burning up $2,000 sets of tires one after another, and doing so with high risk of severely damaging the car with out insurance coverage?
