Default Why buy over sticker?

Why would anyone pay over sticker for what will soon be a very common car?

There are plenty at MSRP. I just talked to a dealer in Texas and they have three at MSRP.

There have been so many cancellations due to the Virus that now it's a buyers market.

You must be talking about Friendly Chevy in Texas. I looked up they do indeed have 3 C8s but they are all 5k over MSRP, that is if it's the dealer you were referring to.

All the dealers are just trying to get more. Just like how people night up toilet paper and than tried to sell it high proceed before others realized that there will be plenty more later on. The same will happen eventually with the C8. Just need to be patient.

Exactly, or why post a question you should already know the answer to?

A better question is why do you care!? There is nothing wrong with a dealer asking for more than MSRP, no one is being forced to by the car. Let me ask you something, when you trade your car or go to sell it . Don’t you shop to get the best deal? Or do you take what ever the dealer offers? There is no difference in you trying to get the best price for his car than the dealer getting the best price for his. Got over it.

It is not a common car right now. Between the strike and Covid-19 there is a supply and demand issue. I mean come on it's not like there are thousands of these just sitting around on dealer lots ready for a buyer. People are having to travel across the country to get one, at MSRP.

Once production starts ramping up I don't think dealers who are asking ADM will be able to get it anymore. So right now, even in all this craziness, the C8 is still a sellers market. It's just simple economics and supply and demand.

PT Barnum (perhaps apocryphally) is quoted as saying "there's a fool born every minute, and two born to take ''em"

Something's worth what someone is willing to pay for it.... but some folks believe in "slow and steady", and in the long run, pissing money away on the hot new sports-car, the hot new boat, the hot new wife, will leave you in a hot old double-wide with lots of memories, lots of regrets, and lots of cheap scotch.

It’s all relative. Some guys make decent money and 5 or 10 k is nothing really. It’s all market driven. Nothing wrong with it.

Post what dealer!!!
Everyday someone mentions there are tons around at MSRP but never post the info.
The only ones I've seen online at MSRP, when I call, they are actually spoken for but they are "happy" to take a deposit for a 2021.

I think there are many of us that would buy one at MSRP if the right spec.

Default Paying over msrp

1. MSRP is 'suggested' retail price - dealers can go over or under
2. One year ago, the speculation on this forum was it would be priced $70,000 to $150,000 so the $60,000 price was a nice surprise
3. GM probably priced it so low to get a buzz going in the automobile world and planned to raise MSRP mid-year but subsequent events prevented this
4. GM will probably raise MSRP on 2021's as they can observe the demand and buyers willing to pay over MSRP -- and they will need the money
5. To someone earning $150,000, paying $5,000 over MSRP is only 2 weeks salary.
6. Alternative sport cars have a higher MSRP but even with a 'discount' the final price is still higher than a Corvette at $5,000 over MSRP

That is the market. BG is closed and limited supply. Once BG opens and cars start flowing you will likely see the ADM fees drop.
Remembering paying 5K over for my C6 the first year.
My 2014 C7, someone backed out and got lucky and dealer did MSRP for that one even though he could have gotten probably 5K over or more.

This thread is pointless. I’m sure the OP knows the answer to his question. His post was simply a veiled attempt to insinuate that the Corvette is a common car. Nothing to see here, everyone can move on.
