The C8 *is* huge. That is the problem. I thought my C7 was getting a bit long, but holy cow, the C8 extends that by a half a foot. And gets at least 200 pounds heavier.

The C8 seems more like a heavy luxury cruiser than a sports car.

Hopefully the C9 can shed size and weight a bit now that Chevy knows how to build a mid engine.

C9 will likely by full EV or at least a hybrid. Obviously battery technology can evolve but based on current technology the C9 likely will only get heavier. Americans just don't want smaller cars. I know enthusiasts prefer lighter and smaller but the trend is larger and heavier for just about everything. Always exceptions to the rule.

My guess is that the higher performance versions will be wider. I doubt that they will be shorter unless GM does away with the trunk. Based on how GM's customers use the car, I'd be very surprised to see the trunk go. I believe that you are going to be stuck with the C8 proportions for now. Some variants might get a little lighter with liberal use of exotic materials, but my guess is that some, if not most, of any weight savings will be used by higher performance equipment. The base car seems to run really well and holds it's own on the track. It may be bigger and a little heavier, but it's pretty much a Swiss Army Knife as far as what it can do well.

I was really bummed out that I did not like the C8 more in person. Here is hoping the Z06 or GS will address some of the issues I have with the C8's appearance.

The NSX is a car that i thought looked terrible in pictures until I actually saw it. I really think the NSX looks much better in person than in pictures and I wished I could say the same about the C8.

Looks are subjective however and if you love the look of the C8 then more power to you. I do not dislike it however I do not like it enough to buy one.
It is funny. I went to the exact same Jacksonville show. I have a C8 on order, and I am really looking forward to getting it in. The C8 that they had at the show left me feeling more ho hum about it. I think the color combo and options just didn't work for me. Others obviously felt otherwise. With this said, I looked at the NSX at the show. They weren't making as big of a deal about it. Chevy had a big display drawing a lot of people to look at the C8. When I saw the NSX, I thought it looked hot! Really hot!...much better in person than in pictures. The combination of the looks, decent performance and ability to negotiate price now have me considering a NSX in addition to my C8. I feel a little nuts for this, but I can always come to this board and some of you will make me feel better about having even more expensive toys. I have no idea if I will get it yet, but it is a really nice car.

I think the NSX is a much nicer looking car as well, setting aside price and performance. I wasn't all that impressed with pictures either, but when I saw the NSX in person, I also found it really beautiful.

Many of the styling choices on the C8 were obviously made to keep some of the Corvette heritage alive in the design. This is the transition car. If the ME C8 is readily accepted by the Corvette faithful and also attracts new (read younger) buyers, then my guess is that the C9 will be more radical styling exercise. I think the C8 is going to be a big success.

The jury is still out, and we won't have a verdict for a couple of years. No doubt, it's a great performer, but after the initial infatuation is over, I don't think it's a sure thing to outsell either the C6 or C7 gens. It certainly got more initial buzz, but then again social media is exponentially more ubiquitous than it was in 2013. Internet social media was essentially non-existent in 2004 when the C6 debuted.

The sports car market is shrinking rapidly, and it's an endangered species. It could be the runaway #1 seller in that segment, and still not surpass either C6 or C7 gen sales.

I've been wrong before, but in the case of the C8, I really hope not. Motorcycles are in a similar situation as sports cars and apparently golf.

I love NSX side profile, integral scoops, and rear. Front end has issues.

My suspicion is that it would sell better if it had a V8. A V6TT is fine at $40 - $80 thousand but is too pedestrian for the NSX’s price.

The C8 hybrid variants will shame the NSX’s tech, doing more for far less. The V8TT will also shame the NSX’s ICE tech. It will be brutal!

The Porsche Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, GT3 RS, and GT2 RS, all disagree with that.

I do think the NSX was priced too high, but that’s based on overall performance, not the fact it’s a V6. If it had an extra 125-150hp 180k would have been fine. Without the car should have maxed out about 125k. The market shows that as well since that’s the price point most people are buying theirs at.

Looks are also subjective but I love the front of mine:

I think that the Gen 2 NSX is a great car, but with glaring issues:

it has a serious lack of storage space of all kinds, and this matters;

the interior is simply not up to the caliber of a top of the line modern sports car, and

lastly, the car is vastly overpriced in an age when there are so many choices both new and lightly used at around $175K. If it had been well equipped and sold at $125K-$150K Max, then Honda would have a hard time keeping them in dealer stock.

It does have a lack of space, though personally I don’t think it matters. I only ever even had a bag in it once, which was for a weekend trip.

I thought the interior was very nice. Maybe not 180k nice, but def nicer than my Vettes. Nicer than the other exotics I owned as well, though that’s not a fair comparison as they were much older.

Honestly I think even 150k is too much. 150k is 458s, lightly used 570s, and an array of other lightly used exotics that are faster and more, well, exotic. I think a base price of $99,900 (For marketing purposes) and max price of 125k would have had these things flying off the shelves.

I like them except the new ones don't come with manual trans anymore -(
I drove one of the originals and it was fun, very light and nimble.

something is wrong with those times in the video. NSX is basically in line with best reported time while the 488 time is way off the reported best... suspicious!

(Not that I’m a fan of using just quarter mile to compare...)

Yea I think it was the color combination on the C8 that made it look that way. It was a very generic color combination at the Jacksonville auto show. I feel exactly the same way as you about the NSX. You can get them pretty heavily discounted right now and it is a real head turner.
