No more 2020's
I placed my deposit with MacMulkin in October 2018 and was supposedly # 17. Due to late start date; early restraints; the strike; and now the virus, the car was not built. On March 19th, I was at 3400 and VIN was assigned.
When the plant starts up again, sometime in the future, I believe GM should start building 2021 model year. Reasons for this:
1. Some upgrades already announced - more to come ?
2. 2021 orders start in May. Personally I would like some of the new features.
3. Buyers of 2020 model were beta testers and therefore will be 'rewarded' with a somewhat rare vehicle - for whatever that's worth
4. I don't want to pay MSRP for a new car that will be nearly a model year old.
5. Based on past experience, the car will depreciate about $4,000 per model year so ...
6. I will not take delivery of a 2020 model in late 2020 (August or September ?) when the 2021 will be available in another month or two

If you are at 3400 I assume your Deposit will not be Refunded if you decide to wait for a 2021.
Could be wrong unless the individual Dealer has no problem with it.
Also, I would suggest you add a Question Mark (?) to the Title of this Thread.
I clicked on it thinking there was News from GM about not continuing Production of the 2020 Model, (something many of us are wondering), not just a random thought from a Forum Member.
Then again, it could just be the stress of Sheltering In Place playing tricks on the Mind.

Wireless Apple CarPlay would be the biggest reason to want the 2021 model, at least for me.

You are with a big volume dealer. I would concentrate on getting a car and plan to stick with my original order if i was at 3400. No telling where you will be if you ditch that order for a 21. BG just pulled two of our orders off the order bank on 3/30 going from 1100 straight to 3000. No absolute news but that indicates to me at some point they are going to crank back up and build as many 2020's as they can from the vehicles that are in the system this summer. Just an educated guess.

Wait a minute, you were #17 at MacMulkin and gave them a deposti in October 2018 and you don't have a car yet. I would have thought they would have had a hundred or so cars delivered by now.

They are not going to scrap the 2020's that they have on the line and in the system to be built. Whether you want a 2020 or 2021 isn't going to matter, you are getting the car you have at 3400. You can decide not to accept it and get back in line and I am sure they will have a buyer for your car. They will likely even let you have your deposit back because they are stand up people. Just because we are close to 2021 MY when this ends will not move GM to change orders already accepted and in process. It is a chance we all take when we buy cars. They depreciate, it happens. I am not sure why GM should make 2021's before they finish the 2020's they have booked.
And I agre@Second Vette , there should be a ? in the title.

Talked to GM yesterday about my shipping issue. The GM rep stated to me he just finished a meeting and they told him when they return to work they are committed to finish the 3300 and 3400 builds. My car is stuck in the train yard in KS but there still cars that need to ship out of BG going to Calif and AZ. And there still actively shipping.

Your probably still getting your car. Who cares if the 2021 models are out a month later. This car like each few past generation Corvette isn't some magical new investment. They are going to make thousands of these....
Get the car, drive it and enjoy it. You obviously first wanted a 2020 model, so accept it. GM isn't gonna change over just cause of your feelings.

2020 Corvettes are not going to depreciate $4,000 when they are now selling at $5,000 to $20,000 over MSRP
GM's original plan was to start production for the 2021 cars on September 1st GM could very well change that date and build 2020 cars until the Christmas vacation and start 2021's in January.
So you won't take August/September delivery for your car but you will go back into the system and wait months again to get a 2021 car.

2. You will take your 2020 C8 when it's ready at any time in 2020 or even 2021 or loose your deposit, if GM forces the issue. There is no limit on 2020 date unless written on your contract.

What demands ?
1. I made no demands of GM and no I don't think they care what I believe
2. There are more changes than just paint colors
3. This is a forum for opinions. Believe is defined as "be of the opinion"
4. MacMillan stated I was # 17, so I don't know why the delay. ELB was on early constraint.
5. Maybe today -- but nobody is going to pay over MSRP in September when they can order a 2021, When I upgrade in 3-4 years, the 2020 will be worth $4,000 less than a 2021.
6. I will forfeit the $2,000 deposit if necessary to buy a 2021. Don't think this will be necessary as my contract with MacMulkin does not have a date specified for delivery (performance) so the courts would use "reasonable" and two years is not reasonable. MacMulkin will have no trouble selling this from inventory, therefore, there will be no financial damages anyways.
These snarky responses are the reason I don't post much.

You can envision future historians talking about this: "Wow, that's a 2020 Corvette! They're very rare. They're called the corona cars. They only built the 2020's for a month before the virus shut down the country. Man, those were some tough times..."

The caveat, are there any HTC Orders currently at 3300 / 3400 Status? That will be interesting, especially considering that the HTC Mechanism Suppliers are able to spool up Production.

I'd have to take a look at the new silver. I ordered blaze. I might change my mind.
The big question now is if I dump Z51 and just get the magna ride by itelf.
