Default Virus created new opportunity for buying a C8

Here in the Toronto area I called many GM dealers including the biggestes-one that sells C8, they all told me to go and fly a kite and come-back in 2021. With the market crashing and people losing their jobs. I bet I may be able to buy one soon. As a bonus maybe at a discount. What you think

Good to see you are looking at the silver lining in others misfortune.

Good luck... I know many people in Canada scouring the country for any built C8’s for sale with no luck. One came up in AB last week that the owner didn’t take delivery of and it was re-sold in under an hour. One just came up in BC and was immediately sold the same day for $5K over MSRP.

Canada is probably getting less than 100 C8’s for the country with the plant closing so finding one available is going to be very tough.

So, no one is allowed to even think about prices of C8s until the virus issue goes away?

Spoke with my Corvette person at Classic. Nada cancellations or walk aways. Surprising in that we are the home base for both American and Southwest airlines. Major hubs for both FedEx, DHL and, UPS air cargo operations. AA's flight attendant training academy is located here too. I have lost count of the number of Amazon centers in the D-FW area. Time will tell. This is just the beginning. The COVID-19 wave is gaining momentum as it rolls inward towards the heartland from both coasts.

Most corvette buyers pay in full so its doubtful there will be a flood of cancelled orders. Most forst year buyers are loyal corvette enthusiasts so thats another strike against a rash of cancellations.

the listing of corvette inventory is just sold vehicles rolling into dealers for their owners.

your assumptions that the dealers will be flush with c8 s because of the reasons your considering even still demand far outstrips supply...

no discounts but rather “market adjustment” upward are in your future if you want anyone of these very few non spoken for c8s.

if you end up with a located under msrp...give us a shout out ..im guessing at least 4 years before any discounting below todays price of 60 grand plus options.

Expect prices paid to go up...not down ...

This time around with the influx of younger buyers, I believe that has changed. Also, with the interest rates at record lows, why pay cash?

I wouldn’t go so far as to say it will be four years before prices go down, but chances of finding one right now at a discount are pretty slim. But, good luck in your search.

Is there any evidence of this at all, or is this just speculation?

There is no reason to believe the C8 cycle will be vastly different than C7 and C6. Forum dealers will begin to discount the 2021s at some point. It's a mass produced commodity.

The impact from the virus could accelerate things and we may see discounts earlier on 2021s.

Several also incorrectly predicted the C7 would not be discounted until 2016. Forum dealers started discounting 2014 C7s in January 2014. C8 discounts are coming.
