"My local dealer had a "tour" come through in December and I got to see it and loved it..."
Wow, only started thinking buying a C8 in December, and beat many of us putting down deposit in Oct or Nov. to get the car long before us. Talking about in the right place! Congrats!

Really! I was in a dealership showroom with my wife on a Saturday afternoon many years ago salivating over a hot little 2-seater. It was a newly introduced model with a long wait list but at least the dealer was selling at MSRP instead of at a premium. I loved the car but never seriously considered buying one. The salesman we were talking to about the car told us that the buyer was with their F&I guy closing on the purchase and that we could watch the car drive off the showroom floor if we hung around a few minutes. Suddenly voices were raised and the buyer loudly exited a screened area and then out of the dealership.
I shocked the crap out of my wife when I offered to buy the car on the spot at MSRP - the only time in our 46 years together than we didn't discuss and agree on a major purchase. The salesman mentioned the wait list again but motioned the dealership manager over. I made the same offer to him. OK, I might have mentioned that I was with the company that provided the dealership's insurance and other financial services. Whatever ... I was the one who drove that car off the showroom floor, wait list be damned.

I agree you are lucky to get what you wanted and appreciate zero mark up. On the other hand car sales did a major nose dive and everyone is pulling back on unneeded risk health wise and financial wise. The dealer played it safe, got a very hefty profit in a very shaky market. I bet all dealers wish they could get MRRP on all their inventory, especially 60-95k vehicles.

I can’t blame the dealer for making a quick sale but he really should have gone to the waiting list and had everybody pass on it before offering it to a noobie. He also shouldn’t have ordered one for the lot which again, is in front of the waitlist customers. I hope my dealer wouldn’t do that. They have said that they don’t. Do I believe them?? Hmmm.
Anyways, congrats to you for being a smart buyer!

Love the color combo, I did not like the black on the C8 in the initial pics I saw on the intraweb. Now that I am see more of them I am starting to love the black on the C8, congrats!

To anyone wondering - I called the dealer the OP listed and they iterated that they do not have any other built C8s in stock. If anyone knows of a car for sale at MSRP, let me know!

Great
I like stories like this and I also like the hunt so to speak when buying cars. Black is really nice but where I live it’s is a part time job to keep it clean. I had a Cadillac V and it was black and beautiful and got many a complement. But I really did spend to much time keeping it clean. I congratulate you on a very nice car and a good story to go with it.
