Default C8 for sale

Just receive a call from my dealer who has a C-8 for sale. The buyer wants to sell it for $5,000 over what he paid. I told dealer that I know I was born at night but not last night. He is going to keep his 2019 ZR-1. People like this person should get the royal screw but some fool will buy it. Its black,Z51 and 3lt trim. I told dealer I would consider buying it for $5,000 less than he paid for it. Follow up - the car was sold and pick up and now he is trying to sell it. Based on some of the comments received the seller can do anything he wants to do. Ok. However, he used an allocation that I could have used to buy my car at this dealer. As they say he will get his just desert some day. If I find any more info I will post it. That is my 02. FYI - Picture of the car being discuss is at the end of this thread.

Why so emotional and upset over this? Has anyone on here ever sold something for cheap because they needed money now? Did you yell at the person who bought it for taking advantage of you? It’s capitalism.

Im sure this person sees what is happening out there...GM production on hold...other people who got in the game too late and can’t get one for a year...or maybe someone who just wants a C8...$5k for a full years worth of driving...Terrible? I don’t think so.

So he’s taking advantage of the MARKET right now. What is wrong with this?? Seriously...what is so bad about this?? You don’t have to buy it...If someone offered you $5k more than the highest appraisal on your house would you turn them down? You guys are funny. Leave it alone!!!

Exactly there will be tons of C8 available when production starts, whats special about that C8 that the seller expects 5K over his buying price?

Well, it's not a respirator. If some buyer thinks production will be delayed longer than they want to wait or that the 2021's will be priced higher anyway, it might be worth the premium to them. If GM had priced them $5K higher, we'd still view it as a great price. Follow up, though, if you ever hear whether he finds a buyer at that price.

Why do people get so worked up about this??

it is called supply and demand. I’m sure the people that are disgusted by this person asking what he perceives as the market price are also the same people that try to negotiate another grand off when dealers are advertising cars and trucks 20% off MSRP

I bet the dealer low balled the trade on his ZR1 and the buyer walked. This whole thing sounds like a dealer scam, are you sure the buyer is getting the extra $5K and not the dealer? Is the car already built and sitting at the dealer or is this gonna turn into a 2021 car?

From what you're describing, he's just trying to break even. 70k car plus 6 to 9% tax and registration fee and such...

He's not making any money.
the people on eBay asking 20k over are the ones solely looking for profit.

It could be simply that retirement was budgeted out... And then he just lost 50% of his 401k in the last month... And is trying to lose as little as possible.
I'm sure many people are in that boat.

Based on what is available to actually buy right now, with production halted...5k over sticker is the best deal out there

Good point... I read the post as the car has been bought already, it exists on hand, and the buyer is now selling it.

If the buyer is just selling the "spot" for 5k, that's different

If you don't want it pass on it. You guys are like babies if he sells it great if he doesn't oh well. Brand new car that will be hard to get ahold of at the moment but will die down like all the other gens. Supply and demand kids dont be a hater.

Unreal responses. I am in the process of selling my C8, which is sitting at Kerbeck. I felt it was prudent to support my business' and my 120 employees than buy another car. I have the cash, but when the market rebounds there will be plenty of opportunities to invest and make some $$$. From a perception standpoint, buying another toy doesn't win favors with folks that are struggling to hang on. Do I want to give up my $4K deposit to Kerbeck, no. Kerbeck has zero flexibility and will not work with me in any way...So I am trying to complete a transaction at what I am paying for the car, which is MSRP, doc fees and AZ sales tax. I will take a loss, hopefully not the whole deal. Kerbeck doesn't lose one penny, only the buyer gets a double tax penalty. The son of my payroll person has bought and sold two C8's. $5-10K over MSRP and tax, which is what he paid. Is he a bad guy? No, just working supply and demand.
Be safe folks. The level of anxiety and stupidity is at an all time high.

My Indiana sales tax is over $5000 so I'd say he is trying to break even if he has to pay tax.

Many on this forum can be held responsible for people like this pricing their C8 over MSRP. They have heard the C8 is an exotic for so long they believe it......now they are pricing them as such. Shame on you guys!

Default C8 Production Delayed

Haven't you heard!?! GM, Ford, & others have closed production factories. It is being said that if you don't have an order accepted by GM yet for a 2020 C8, then (most likely), you will have to wait for a new model year 2021. And then you have to consider the potential for a large price bumb for the new year. BUT, that potential buyer gets one now without the wait, totally fair to ask for it. Believe me, they will get it. Lack of supply with a tremendous demand!
