TJ Hunt Check Engine light (road trip)

All the people in here that call these clowns "influencers", I can't believe that these people actually influence you, lemme guess, they tell you to wear women's underwear and you're all over it.
And this guy abuses his car, zero respect for him and whatever he has to say about cars.

I don't really think they were pushing or abusing the cars. I am not really a huge fan of either of these Youtubers, but they want views and are going to get way more money from these types of videos than by just driving them 35mph and talking about how smooth the ride is.
It's pretty simple really, if you don't like these guys don't watch them. I rarely do but was interested since they got some of the first C8 deliveries. People will really lose their mind when they start slapping big wings, lambo doors, crazy wraps, etc on the cars.

You don't have to worry about me watching them. Not enough substance. All the info I need from the video I can find in the title of forum threads or the first few posts. As I said before, these threads are a better form of entertainment for me.

You're all giving him exactly what he wants, attention. I've suffered through enough of his videos to know he's got no content I'll be interested in. Either watch it or don't.

This cant be serious. No one is stupid enough to think that someone that drives a car fast or does burnouts is correlated to abusing people. How moronic. I think people that make stupid threads on the internet beat puppies. How horrible of you, why would you do that?

I respectfully disagree. To prove my point when I spoke 1:1 with Tadge at the NCM 25th Anniversary Celebration I mentioned SpeedSpeed 717, and TJ Hunt to him. He responded by saying, “I’m well aware of them and look forward to when they get their cars”. Coincidence, I think not.

I watched the first part of the video when they did the speed run in texas. Video said they hit the "top of 5th" which would be around 160 mph or so if the engine was hitting 6500 rpm. The they showed 6th gear and then very shortly later they hit "top of 6th" which at 6500 rpm would be over 200 mph. What a bunch of BS!

They pay for them and as "influencers" on Youtube, they make anywhere from $400-$500 a day from ad revenue with their uploads. That works out to over $1M a year and the more subscribers and views on their videos, the more money.
I'll admit, I watch their videos because I want to see C8 content. However, I can't wait to see and hear from your Average Joe with their C8.

I make over $300K per year but am not rolling like that. I’m guessing whatever you think they make from YouTube ad revenue maybe double it.

Lots of haters on this thread. Let’s just boil it down to its simplest terms. Ya’ll wish you had a brand new c8 before everyone else and HAVING FUN WITH IT. lol. Lighten up people. Smile. The world can use more of that.

Some of ya'll need a reality check. These kind of vlog style videos are one of the most popular form of entertainment on the planet. Many people watch them as entertainment just like people watch TV shows. It's not always for technical reviews and overtly informational content. Just because it's not your favorite way to consume car content, doesn't mean it's trash or they are clowns. It means they made themselves a job and are pretty successful at it. Most people don't know the work that goes into that stuff. How long they did it for zero income before gaining enough views and popularity to monetize it. GM had all the YouTubers out a couple weeks ago to that event at Spring Mountain because they are smart. More people watch those videos than would ever see a commercial on TV. Those YouTubers usually reach a much younger audience than this board's average age and GM has publicly voiced their desire to get a younger demographic into Corvette's. It's smart marketing. It's not marketed to you guys who've had Vette's for 20 or 30 years. You don't have to like it, or watch one minute of it. But be an adult and stop disparaging these people for absolutely no reason. Not one of you keyboard warriors would call them these things to their face, so why say it online.

They both sell a lot of merchandise and both have had sponsors. There’s other revenue/money coming in. Don’t know how much but the fact is they have both owned numerous super cars and don’t even balk at $95K C8’s.

They get $$$ whether you hate 'em or love 'em; haters get triggered and hate watch, fans just click and all that matters are the clicks. Interesting business model, we'll see how long it lasts.

I enjoyed the video. My wife and I have done "coast to coast" cross country trips in our C6 (last one being in July 2019) many, many times. Love touring this great country in a Vette. We've done Dallas to San Diego quite often so I can identify with much of what he showed. Sure they had a great time. I thought he came a little close to clipping that curb while doing his donuts. Too close for my liking.
I'm curious as to what the cause of the "check engine" light was after those spins. Seems they spent a lot of time doing donuts with only a fraction of their tries being in the video.
Perhaps this has something to do with the "additional 2 qts of DCT transmission fluid" that you're supposed to add before high performance driving? That fluid was definitely sloshing around perhaps it tripped off a sensor?

Here in California right now. Not unheard of for engine light but more than 500 miles required on trans alone. 2k for sustained maximum output. Christian Gephardt gives full approval of the car so far.
