Cool story.

Only thing I would add is the "thanks" but spent the 5k anyway? How many people needed that coveted "285" vin....

In that case chevy should have just given them the vin I mean comon.. the publicity alone would have far outweighed the 5k they sucked out of them.

Someone seriously believe that having matching VINs will add value? Having the very first of every generation might, but just matching VINs between a C1 and a C8? It's their money of course but it's neither cool or cute, just weird. Possibly means something to them but to anyone else it's like having your guitars all have matching serials; a fun thing in OCD land.

I think it's pretty cool and GM could've done an amazing PR job by assigning them that vin. But as usual they don't see the forest for the trees. $5k customer select vin more important. Silly.

What about the 39 (2015 count not reported) people that got custom VINs during the C7 run? Should Chevy have just given them all their requested VINs for free? I'm sure they all had some background story for the VIN they requested. How about other C8 buyers that select the custom VIN? Should they have to pay if this couple got theirs for free?
