Who prefers the C7 to the C8 ?

My issue with the ME only is I for one would have been all over a redesigned FE evolved from the C7.. the grand touring Corvette.
Maybe it will still come. Along with an SUV. And a 4dr.
I'm not an ME guy.
If the car looked like the F8? A Laferrari or a P1? Different story. It doesn't. Has to blow me away to deal with the shortcomings of an ME design (for my purposes)

Obviously everyone's preference is backed with opinions, bias, and other subjective qualities. Although I am far from broke, my preference includes the cost factor. Without any doubt, the C8 is an amazing performance bargain and will hurt the competition badly, in terms of lost sales. But I would definitely be better off with a slightly abused Stingray for $30k over a C8 for $60k... if I could even get one for $60k. Plus I prefer the aesthetics and proportions of the C7 over the C8. I wish the C7 had a production run longer than just 7 years, kinda sad actually. C7 is a really great car, the last FR Corvette, and Chevy did a wonderful job on it. But... progress demands the C8! (LOL)

C8 is the future but the Past still looks good. In the pics of the 2 black cars facing each other, the C7 is the one that draws my eye more. The front end award goes to the C7. When i look at the rears compared in the 3/4 angle view, that goes to the c7.
Now when I look at the C8 all by itself then it looks better... Strange how that works.

C8 ahead... with the most people who Prefer It A Lot ! Strong Showing for the C7 with a majority of total votes...
It would be interesting if we run this Poll again in a year after the first C8's start being delivered to Customer...

I'm frankly surprised at the overall total. In the C8 forum.

I owned C2/C3/C5/C6. (too young for C1)
Skipped C4 due to QC concerns.
Skipped C7 due to too much of a "Transformer" look.
Love the C8! Waiting for the line to get a few years of bugs worked out and get a Z06 version.

The most interesting thing is that there are so many people that don’t seem to like C8 much, yet feel compelled to come to the C8 forum. Why? I like the looks of a all models of Corvette. However, I can’t tell the last time I went to the C1-C4 forums. And especially not to talk about how much better looking so other model of Corvette is than the one they have chosen. That would just be childish and rude.
I guess it takes all kinds.

So you limit your use of the Corvette Forum to just the C8 section? I know I don't. And I suspect many others do not either. I look at new topics and join in on any that sound interesting, no matter what section they are in. There is good stuff (and worthless stuff) in all the various sections of Corvette Forum.

I was hoping to prefer the C8 but I just can't. It doesn't look nearly as good as the C7. The front-end is too short, the rear end is too long, and the lines of the car just aren't as clean. The only thing from the C8 that I really, really want is the dual clutch transmission. Nothing else from that car is particularly appealing. I was hoping the Z06 would correct a lot of the weaknesses in the C8... but early reports are suggesting it's going to have substantially lower HP than the C7 Z06. Even though I'm sure it will still be faster, the idea of spending all that money to get into a vette with lower HP is a pretty big turn-off.
I hate to say it, but I'm probably sitting this generation out and waiting for the C9.

It's the same thing with people not liking their V8 downgraded to a V6 (which is happening across both trucks and sports cars) or V6 downgraded to a V4 (which is happening in many sports cars, including the Porsche Boxster and Cayman). When people talk about the next Viper losing the V10, the mopar guys go batshit crazy about it. Doesn't matter that these changes result in more HP, more torque, and better gas mileage and emissions. Perhaps it isn't entirely rational, but bigger engines and more power are something that serious car enthusiasts really care about and drive their purchase decisions.

From the day of the C7 reveal to the day the last one rolled off the line...it never did anything for me. I remember actually being bummed when I got my first look at it. Which is crazy considering how over the moon I was for the prior 2 generations.
The C8, albeit it's ridiculous shortcoming of a manual offering, still easily gets my vote. Say what you may, but it LOOKS like a car that was built with exotics in it's crosshairs. Its simply stunning. Whenever I move on from the 6ZR, it'll likely be into a C8Z.

I don’t know about that. I’m an enthusiast, I’ll take the faster car. Don’t really care about your dyno sheet.

Wow. I guess people have vastly different views on this topic. I thought the C5 and C6 were hideous vehicles and wouldn't ever consider owning one... but the C7 came along and was beautiful. I actually thought it was a Ferrari the first time I saw it.
The C8 is just ugly to me. It looks unbalanced, wedge-shaped, and awkward. I don't see the appeal... and I hate saying that because I wanted to love it. The idea of a mid-engine vette is HOT. I just don't like what they ended up giving us.

Yep different strokes. Never cared for the C7 much either. Crazy how you see a Ferrari in a C7 and not the C8? Anyway, debating something like looks is A waste of time. Enjoy ur ride. 🍻
