Default Rearview power source: radar detector?

Has anybody gotten a good look at the rearview 'mirror' (screen) and if there appears to be an open port for a potential power source for a hard-mounted radar detector?

It's the same as the one in the 2019 Camaro. There's power and ground behind a plastic cover on the back of the bracket.

I prefer not having the radar detector hanging down in my field of vision. I don't like the asymmetrical look of having it mounted offset either. I'm going to evaluate the practicality of mounting it above the center speaker between the seats and having a remote display when I get my car. If that turns out to be not practical then I'll probably just mount it below/in front of the rear view mirror.
The other thing I need to find out is if the blind spot monitoring is going to interfere with the detector.

That's a concern I didn't think of...with the new external sensors, how will the effect the radar detector. Thanks for bringing this up.

I have found that the Waze app is more effective than a Radar Detector, specially when they use laser. Actually the New York Police department requested Waze remove that feature, so it tells you how effective it is.I barely use the radar detector anymore but on very long trips were Waze might not be popular.

I use Waze also...it's very effective. However, I don't trust either Waze or my detector 100% so I use both most of the time. I must be excessively paranoid

Also I drive frequently in DC and VA where detectors are illegal and they will actually look for them. In addition my wife gives me a hard time when I use the detector due to the alerts and tells me I am breaking the law.

WOW! GOOD POINT! I was going to take my radar detector out of my C4 when I sell it and put it in my C8 but it drives me nuts every time I go by a car with blind spot monitoring because I can't turn off the 'K' band. Looks like I'll be buying a new detector.

Even if the C8 BSM is on K band it may not interfere with detector when it is mounted inside the car. rdforum is a good source of information.

Hopefully if it's the same as the Camaro Blendmount will have a wire splice kit soon. Took about a year from when I got my September 2013 built C7.

I don't like the detector hanging down blocking vision either. However Form Follows Function plus I like asymmetry- frankly could care less how it looks, only thing that matters is it does the job! I'll mount it just like I did on the 2014 and now Grand Sport - high to the right of the mirror. By the time the GS came out I used the Blendmount mirror tap. On the 2014 used fuse 37 in the rear. Made a sketch of what will work for the C8 if I get mine and the mirror tap is not available.

My detector is not affected bt the wife's bling spot detection on her BMW.

Is there a factory 12V receptacle where you are showing you're plugging in to, or is that something you'd be adding? If adding, where are you getting the power source for it?

It’s there from the factory.

As was noted, it's there. That is why I looked for a flush mount plug so a passenger didn't have a wire hanging by their feet! As I said, hope Blendmount has one. So far a search of their site says "Notify me when one is available."

That’s exactly what I do as well. When it comes to radar detection only my pocketbook and the limits of available technology diffuse my paranoia 😇
