Courtesy Delivery Info

PlyCar quote was $1,500 bc I'm far from the east coast I-95 corridor. So the 1K local dealer quote in FWB clearly wins out. Except that Cook Chev in Elba AL is $400 but four hours round trip. Debating between the two. Keep 'what if' in mind. What if there are PDI issues? Do I make a second 4 hour round trip?

No offense to all here, but there is no way that I would pay a dealer for a courtesy delivery, as they are already getting paid PDI money from GM. There are dealers out there that will do it for just that, if we stop paying it as a whole it would be better. Also if you let the original dealer do the delivery, have a transporter pick it up there and ship it to you it actually helps the selling dealer. You can get a car all the way across the country easily and in many cases cheaper than what I have seen here for a courtesy delivery.
I had a Courtesy Delivery to SW Florida for $750. That is less than it would have cost me to ship it to Florida and I got it here brand new and was able to inspect it before I took delivery, The dealer did find some transport damage on the bottom of the car that I would have never seen. They showed me pictures and their body shop took care of it. If I had my own transporter ship it there is the risk of damage every time the car is loaded or unloaded or as it travels down the road. If Bowling Green shipped to MacMulkin first only to have it unloaded and reloaded for the trip to Florida it would have travelled 2,400 miles by truck instead of about 800 miles and had additional loading and unloading. Every time that happens it adds to the risk of damage.
Finally, yes the Courtesy Delivery dealer gets PDI money but it is a fraction of what they would get in profit if they had sold the car so it is much less profitable to them. I am happy to pay the fee so that my car does not get put on the back burner while they work on more lucrative opportunities. I have now met the Service Manager at the Florida dealer and have a comfortable working relationship that will serve me well going forward.

FWIW, don't mind paying fees the dealer has to pay! In fact I got half of mine back as it was lower than their estimate. A couple of hundred dollars. My small Chevy Dealer only charged a flat $350 for Courtesy Delivery for my 2017 Grand Sport as well as my C8. Great Service Manager and trained Vette Tech. I will use them for service versus the large Chevy dealer in town even though they are 30 miles away.
Had no issues with my C8 but for the 2017 Grand Sport the Service Manger found dirt under the clear coat in two small spots. We went to their body shop and that Manager said he could correct in 2 hours. They did and I'm sure GM reimbursed them. For the 2017 GS the Tech also installed the Stage 2 Aero option I ordered that required drilling 13 holes be side and installing rivets. I watched from the service area and took pics. Service Manager said they also got paid by GM for that effort. For the C8 had ordered the high wing and $4850 5VM side skirt/splitter package and was confident they would do a great job installing. BUT both were constrained. (I installed C7 Carbon side skirts and splitter for >$1500 cost shipped!)
I ordered my 2017 Grand Sport with Kerbeck "winter prices of >15% discount." No one was cheaper! The C8 was my 3rd Vette purchased from Kerbeck. Great folks, would not buy from anyone else! They have been the #1 Vette seller for years for a reason!

It is not really a courtesy if you have to pay for it, now is it.
My last vette was delivered to my local dealer in Waterloo, IA at no charge. They told me that they get paid from GM to do the PDI, fill the tank etc. They knew I was going to get it serviced there as well. I did not buy it from them as they did not have the availability when I ordered.
Rydell Chevrolet was great to work with during the delivery and their service was excellent. Great people.

ive been told by many people that a full tank of gas is actually part of the destination fee we pay and should ALWAYS be included no matter what, and the dealer is doing you no favors by filling up your tank as they are required to. Not sure there is any truth to that

I paid $400 for the courtesy delivery. The information I received from MacMulkin indicated that the courtesy delivery dealer we had chosen would NOT be filling the tank. It’s one of the questions that MacMulkin asks the dealers it contacts about accepting courtesy deliveries. If it were required by GM or the PDI, I’m not sure why MacMulkin would even ask. The tank was NOT full as I had been told to expect.

My tank had enough gas for about 50 miles when I picked it up from the courtesy dealership - barely enough to get home, I guess they thought that as long as I could get to the nearest gas station that was sufficient.

Well, it might have been less. It looked like 70 but it was so flippin cold and windy that my eyes were blurred. The point is that the courtesy dealer did fill it up.

Are there any Arizona owners who bought from MacMulkin that have used Earnhardt Chevy in Chandler, AZ for their courtesy delivery? I know Midway Chevy in North Phoenix does courtesy deliveries but they are too far from me and I have a 13+ year service relationship with Earnhardt (formerly Thorobred) in Chandler, AZ. Tommy at MacMulkin said they would contact Earnhardt on my behalf but I was wondering if anyone has used them for their C8 delivery.
