What did the OP decide?
I'm routing for him admittedly out of self interest.
If there are enough of these buyers, I'll be picking off a c8 in a year or two for my wife when his wife makes him dump it.

Hey everybody! Im new here and have a question before I go any further looking for a Corvette. Ive never made a ton of money in my life. Ill be 31 tomorrow and recently received a nice promotion at my job of 9 years. My annual income is rising from $43K to $80K. My mortgage and all other bills combined is $1400/month. My wife helps pay the monthly expenses as well. We have no kids and a good amount in savings, not counting 401K's, gold, silver and crypto holdings.
Ive always been on the frugal side but I do like nice things. However, its hard to justify paying a $1200-$1400 car payment. Or putting a large amount down and still paying $800-$1000.
This would be a weekend car and occasionally driving it to work. I keep telling my self you earned it and you only live once - just do it. But I still get the nagging feeling that I could be investing this money.

Ls3, forged internals, 419rwtq and 415hp and a flat torque curve thanka to the cam. Amazing wheels, sick upgraded headlights, clutch etc... Its ready for twin turbo as is.
I paid 18k and the car is mint.
... Get a c8 when your 40 or 45 like i will after the cost drops.
Thanks to a corvette forum member!!

My thing is weather. Even with All season tires you probably wont want to drive it during the winter. On top you have insurance, maintenance etc that doesn't factor into your price.
Honestly unless you live in the southern states that never see snow or Vegas, you're going to have to find a 2nd ride. For me weather here in Jersey/PA means that it can't be a daily driver.

I’ve been DD’ing Vettes here in DE/SE PA for the past 15 years. With good A/S tires, there’s only a few days per year I have to stay home. They clean up real nice...
Still would counsel OP to buy a used one. It’s not a binary choice. A well optioned used C7 will be >90% of the car for about 60% of the price of a 1LT C8...just an awesome first Vette...

I always daily drive my corvettes...they are just fancy sports cars.
if you want a truly amazing deal then puck up a preowned C7 z51 or grand sport...and even new Im seeing 2019 brand new grand sport 1LT going fir 54 grand...and thats a hell of a deal...
for many of us who are not as concerned about doing the correct thing with regards to finance as we are older and at a different stage in life...
the rear mid engine c8 is a culmination of corvette cinceot cars over 5 decades and its just fun to finally take ownership of something GM has been showing as various concept for most of our lives.
what the hell.....60 to 70 or 70 to 80 is pretty much the cost of a family cuv these days...maybe a few dollars more...
we are worth it as the saying goes...

...and the thread is still going on, and the OP still hasn't been back since shortly after he first posted the thread.
