Yes , I didn’t lock any of the latches ! It happened recently as I was leaving Florida to drive up to Michigan. The previous day I had the top off while running errands and later that day I had some friends over for a bbq. After a few drinks , everyone left and put the top on before I went to bed. In the morning I packed the car and proceeded to drive out of my subdivision and turned onto Tamiami Trail on my way up north. As I accelerated past 50 mph , I heard a big sucking sound , looked up and to top was gone as it rolled and tumbled in my rear view mirror. My first thought was - damn it I read about this. My advise, don’t put your top on after drinking Johnny Walker Black!

My salesman told me a similar story as a warning when I bought my car. I like the look of the C7 Coupe better and do enjoy driving with the top off. When I saw the HTC I like the look even better than the coupe. (Yes I know you can’t see the engine) but this is a small price to pay for open air at the touch of a button. I just hope they build them soon. Have you heard anything about when they may start HTC production?

Conversely, some women I know shouldn’t take their top off after drinking Johnny Walker Black.

I feel the same about the C7 coupe C8 HTC. I think GM won’t start full production till June. Why. My son is a junior at U of M and has secured a summer internship with GM and was scheduled to start Early May. His work and schedule is coordinated with the assembly plants. With Covent19 it was suspended and last week he got notice to report to work June 14.

Good to know. I would think soon after they restart the HTC should start because they were close before all this Covid stuff. I am just glad I did not sell my ZO6 in March thinking I was getting the C8 in April like the master plan that totally got blown up. I still love driving the 2016 Z and am patiently waiting now for June. Maybe it will be ready for my Birthday in early July. (Happy Birthday to me)

My TPW was 4/6. I think it is safe to say we missed that target. I have not sought more recent information because I think it is up in the air at this time. The best news and most relevant information I have is the 6/14 date you provided.

Have you ever owned a coupe? That makes no sense. The latch points are used to stow the top in the back of the car. Latch handles need to be open to do so.

If you aren't prepared to latch the top, then don't put it on.
For me it is one fluid motion. The second the top is pushed into place, my hand is on the first latch to lock. I instantly sit in the seat so I can lock the 2nd front latch, then I reach behind me the lock the 3rd latch. Takes about 15 seconds after the top is put in place. I can't imagine how you can drive with that big latch a couple inches from your forehead, but it seems people do that. You would think GM would have installed a micro switch that you would hear if you drive off without closing the latch if this was a huge issue. I hope the people who forget to latch the top don't also whip it out to take a leak then get distracted and forget to put it away.

I never did with my one and only targa after a couple of times. I hated the buffeting with top off. I never open the sunroof on any of our other vehicles either.
Since then, my only other Corvettes have been convertibles.
