Awesome deals on C7s got me wondering what to do
This will be my first Corvette and I'm sort of newbie here. Before I start, I know you guys are going to tell me, "Its your money, do what you want". But I know a lot of people here have a C7 and many said they are keeping it and getting a C8 so I value the feedback. Well, I'm in line to get a C8 with a possible order date in June. So I was perusing a dealer's site and I saw a new C7 that caught my eye for what appears to be an insane price (at least in my opinion). So I priced out what a C8 would be with the same options (or roughly the same) and it came out to around $20K more, or a little more than 35%. I've always like the C7s am I crazy for considering canceling and getting a C7? I asked humbly for reasonable feedback? Thanks in advance.

If you want a front engine Corvette, you can’t beat the fire sales on C7’s right now. The allure of the C8 is it’s a total redesign mid engine. I just picked up a C7 GrandSport and am really happy with the price paid. Of course, the last year is always the best of that model and the first year is always the crapshoot of that model. Plus you paid MSRP for it.
It’s only money and it’s a disposable income car.

No,if its your first Im sure you will get a lot of enjoyment out of a C7 and when ready for a C8 you will have a good trade in value.

also a newbie to corvette and in line on the C8. I also liked the C7 and was considering one before the C8 launch. To me the C8 is just so cool of a iteration i will pay the extra 20k. But it really comes down to what your looking for. I know i lean towards having the latest body style by default when car shopping so i may be skewed towards the c8. obviously investment wise its cheaper to get into a C7 and if i owned a C7 i wouldn't take the hit selling it now for the C8 unless i could get out of it good with sales tax complicating the picture as well. but new to new I'd go C8. even if the future of issues is unknown. Even if I had to take 20k in options off to make them more comparable.
just my opinion. really a case by case basis and you gotta factor in your wealth as well as the hype for a mid engine corvette.

I have a C6. Loved the car when I saw it, loved the car when I drove it. The C7 never hit me the same way my C6 did, so I didn't move to the C7. That said, the current deals on the C7 Z06 made me pause. Its a fantastic car. Insane power with a factory warranty If you are drawn to the C7, you'll get a great corvette experience.
For me, I love the look of C8 inside and out. I'll accept less power for the rest of the C8 experience. Good luck in your decision.

Post the options on your prospective car, we may be able to get a better picture what you're after and could give a better advice. Also list your intended use of the car, how long you plan to keep it, what do you think you'll replace it with...

How can anyone provide any meaningful feedback to your question without knowing all of this and more about you? Or you could just figure out what you want and then do it. See how simple that is?

Your bolded statement above was right and you should have just stopped there. These are pointless posts. How are any of us supposed to know what you can afford and what you want? Is the C8 worth an extra 20k for you? Can you even afford it? Would you rather have a C7? How about a manual? How important is mid-engine/front engine?

If you are waiting until June, wait for a used c7. There will be plenty.
Folks trading a c7 will take a beat down when the new c7S are being discounted.

Welcome to the forum. Unfort there are a lot of people of here who are going to be rude with their responses because they are just jerks plain and simple. I’ve had a c6 and now a c7Z06. Both manual cars and loved them both. As you prob are aware, Chevy no longer offers manual with the c8 so if you want a manual you have to go C7. If you are OK with automatics, honestly just depends on how much you feel comfortable with spending and which one you like better in terms of looks. All the cars are fast and perform well especially for basic street driving. As you mentioned, great deals on C7 now so could be the way to go. Get yourself into a vette at a great deal and learn about the car and enjoy it while Chevy works out the bugs with the C8. How about a C7 Grand Sport? Great deals, 460hp with Z06 wide body looks and extra performance features. Get used to driving that car first and then more up to higher HP cars in the future. In the end you can’t go wrong so just trust your gut and do what’s best for you!

I wouldn’t blame anyone for getting a new C7Z right now. Some crazy deals to be had. Great way to test the waters.

The C7 at todays prices is a good buy. Might be worth it to have one for a few years while they shake out the new C8. Plus, the full line of C8's haven't been released yet, if that matter sto you at all. However, if the new C8 base or Z51 is what you want, get it. It should be a fun car to have off the bat.

I too was considering the same but when my local dealership had a C7 ZR1 for an amazing price I went for it.
they have 4 more at Bomnin Chevrolet in Miami. They have the best C7 prices.
a Sebring Orange 3ZR ZR1 brand new for $124K. You cannot beat that. MSRP is $146k.
plus 2 black ones and one white one 3ZR for $120k. It’s a steal.

exactly what I would do if I were in your shoes. You can get a base C7 for almost 40% off C8 prices for a gently used one..
