Would you trade from a C7 to C8 if performance was the same as C7?

Yes and I did

Probably the best C8 picture and about the only angle it looks good in. With about 1000hrs of buff time and under spectacular lighting.
If you want to compare real world pictures side on below is a better representation. Looks wise the C7 looks better to me.

I'm with ya.
I would still buy the C8 even if performance was identical.
Not that there is anything wrong with a C7.
The fact that it goes to 60MPH in 2.8 and the Qtr in 11.1 is Icing on the cake.
Not to mention $60,000.00
As far as a Convertible, C8 hands down.

I'll be waiting with bated breath.

I did in that I sold my C7 days after the initial reveal and placed my reservation. Didn’t know much about the car other than price, power and unverified / unofficial performance specs. Car is epic.

I'm partial to my C6 and not really enamoured with the C7. So far as the C8, we'll have to wait and see. No one has driven one. I've not seen one. Not one knows how it will hold up. I think it's OK but kind of a johnny come lately. I think Chevy should build FE and ME cars.

Easy answer for me. I won't buy anything that I don't like the looks of no matter how it performs and I just don't care for the looks of the C8. Give me a couple years and maybe I will warm up to it but not a fan right now. I had planned on a new Corvette in the near future but not now. Kind of sad but I can't get excited in the mid engine design styling.

All numbers being Equal, 0-60MPH, Qtr Mile, Top Speed, etc...
C7 as-is and the C8 as-is with Mid-engine, only DCT available.
So basically, looks only?

Showed it to my 2 boys aged 7 and 9 one at a time. Both of them pointed to the C7 saying that it looks better.
Unbiased opinion right there.
Just showed the wife the 2 pictures and she pointed to the C7 as being nicer.

That's a silly hypothetical question...
Thousands of people will be trading in C7 Z06's for base C8's...
There will still be brand new C7's sitting on dealer lots this time next year that dealers won't be able to give away at a huge loss and a few tenths of a second here or there on the performance stats won't be the problem.... Most every new Corvette buyer who is only here because of the C8 answers No to the question...

Yes. I'm moving on from my 2016 Z06, M7 to a 2020 C8 Z51. When the C8 Z06 comes out, I'll move on to that. Loved my C7 Z06. The reality is that since the modern era of Corvettes began, with the C4, all subsequent generations were better than their predecessors. Time and technology marches on. I have waited a long time for a mid engine Corvette. Not sitting this one out.

So, to answer YOUR question, my answer is No. Looks alone aren’t good enough.
That is not to say that I don’t like the C8 looks, I do. A lot...and I still get a chubby every time I see the C8R. But I do think the C7 looks are still stunning AND I do really enjoy the driver experience of a manual transmission. I just don’t feel it is worth upgrading to the C8 on looks alone, without the performance gain AND the loss of a manual transmission driving experience.
