Withdrew from the C8

Melting Slicks
Looked at some of OP's 17,000 posts.
Lot of posts at 1st about mechanical questions, most about modification to add boost to his C6, then then the 2nd wave was all political, or FS parts for the most part.
He made the best choice for him to forego a C8, and keep is C6. I agree with that, but it's because of his post stating he has around $90,000 tied up in his C6 at present. Big lost on it to trade or personal sale car, plus he stated he's got it were he liked it.
I know why I made the choice to buy a New Corvette for the 1st time since 1969 when I bought my 1st new Corvette until I placed my order for a C8.
Do I/We need to either 'Defend" why we decided to or not decided to purchase? From the posts on C8 section of Forum it seems we do!
But soon, as in the past, I hope as with other Gens release, C8 section of Corvette Forum will become one of sharing information about the ME Corvette.

And speaking of Camaros, I drove one with the turbo 4/auto and it was a fantastic car. Better than the 3 series I had driven before that.

I don't get this. Why are people upset when others point out the design similarities across the Chevy lineup? It's intentional on Chevy's part and denying it makes no difference. I own a 5 Series BMW I don't get upset because the 3 Series looks very similar from any angle. Same with Mercedes.

If you have not noticed there are several C8 enthusiasts on this forum that are very sensitive to anything but praise about the car. It happens on a lot of forums, but this forum is a bit on the extreme side. Unfortunately it is like this in some of the Corvette car clubs I went to (in person) as well. Very much a get off my lawn mentality with this car.
Not to say the OP was in this case and the Op certainly has a right to his opinion. To some it may seem we are sensitive, which is a fair criticism I suppose.
However the Op's post begs a question or two.
1. Knowing the history, like it or not we know the Camaro has always borrowed some styling ques from its big brother the Corvette. The 4 round tail lights on the 2nd gen Camaros being an example. Or the hidden headlights on some versions.
So keeping these things in mind begs the question.
2. Why would a car enthusiast cancel an order because the C8 looks similar to its stable mate made by the same company AND then come to the C8 section to post that action? Think about it. Perhaps it was an innocent post. Perhaps it was not.
Regardless all things being considered most would say the Op's post solicited the expected response.

I think they are similar in design and see how they could be confused, especially at night. However the C8 stance is a lot lower and more aggressive.

Yep, I have the same problem comparing Sophia Vergara and Whoopie Goldberg....I have to really concentrate when I see either of them to figure out who it is.
Comparing a C8 Corvette (or a C7, for that matter) with a Camaro and saying one looks like the other....yikes! Hell, Sophia is waaay taller than Whoopie.

I went back through the OP’s posts until before the reveal, no posts indicating any interest at all in the C8. As I said before, you cannot withdraw from something you were never in. Next he will tell us he has stopped dating Selena Gomez.

LOL So true. Over the years I've been a member of Audi, BMW, Corvette, Infiniti, and Porsche forums. The Audi and BMW forums were the most civil, followed by Porsche. When the 718 was first introduced there were many heated posts exchanged between 6 cyl and 4 cyl turbo advocates on Planet 9 and Rennlist, but the Corvette forum is in a class by itself.

IMO, while I like (don't love )the looks of the car overall I don't believe the sharknose front end blends well with the thick squarish carved out rear end at all.
GM could have done a far better job giving Corvette buyers a rear end look unique to the iconic car itself and not to the brand.
To me, the designers couldn't decide whether they wanted it to look like a curvy sports car or an agressive track machine, And they settled on both.

So trolling is now inclusive of 13 year members with over 17,000 posts? The OP gave us an opinion. Oh that's right, that's not allowed anymore in our society if the opinion upsets anyone. Seriously, it's like being at a party and over-hearing people talking about something you don't like and feeling the need to argue the point.
I'm sure there are other, non vocal or posting, members who have had the same reaction after seeing the C8. I personally never got the Camaro vs. Corvette tail light debate as (gasp) GM has been sharing designs and parts for years since both cars are mass produced. I like the C8 tail lights and was one of the few, that immediately liked the C7 tail lights. I just didn't argue every post with those who preferred round tail lights.
This is the 3rd generational switch I've witnessed as a CF member and by far the C8 fan base seems the most easily offended if anyone posts a slightly negative comment about a car that no one has actually driven yet.

at first i was very excited about the new c8. That was a couple of months ago. Last week on business in bowling green, my passenger and i saw what we thought was a c8 on i 65 about a half a mile ahead. The closer we got, the more we were convinced it was the c8. We passed on the left ..... And.... It was the 2019 camaro. From the rear, it is hard to tell the difference. Sad.

I will say this: the rear of the silver C8 (that Jake posted) looks beautiful to me. It doesn't look so good in red or blue. But in silver, it looks all Corvette and is spectacular.....
