Anyone considering cancelling their order if the strike persists?
This thread is not to bash the unions or it'll get locked/moved. Seeing BGA voted no, I'm getting extremely annoyed with all of this. Seriously considering building another C5 Z06 "hot rod". If I'm buying a brand new car at MSRP I want quality. I am losing enthusiasm in being an early adopter and I have been following this car religiously for over 4 years now.

Well, not to worry for me. My enthusiasm to get the C8 just died down because of the strike and no production. It's still on order and I just have to wait. In the meantime, I just picked myself a new 2019 McLaren 720s!

Reading the comments yesterday from BGA strikers is disappointing to say the least, as was the result of the vote there.
Certainly does not give me a warm feeling to know that these are the people putting my car together. Not enough to pull the plug though.

Yes ...This is becoming annoying...hopefully fridays vote will move things along in a positive way...
didnt really want to hear bowling green workers yesterday are not in favor of the present GM offer on the table...thats a huge red flag
even if they go back to work are they in fact unhappy as they produce the cars...
not a recipe for flawless execution once the strike ends...
thats even if the proposal gets ratified by I believe friday by 4 pm...
having your brand new eighth generation corvette which is a totally new design put together after a strike isnt great...having the bowling green workers who voted down the present contract doing the work is even worse.....
btw Im usually the eternal optimist....but this is becoming less than fantastic..
ugh..

No,not worried and I’ll wait .
Its none of my business and I’m sure when they resume ,the workers will have pride in what their building and GM will have sufficient manufacturing protocols to ensure everything goes well.

Well I decided to buy this new rear mid engine corvette to celebrate a milestone birthday this year...
I had planned to take delivery before I reach 100 years old...
this is a long process...usually its seven weeks from the time you order the car to the time its delivered..
we thought it was coming out
ast year...then every big car show event...then in july they announced the car by the fall or end of this year...now we are delayed 7 weeks so far because of the strike...then We have the various production constraints of as much as another 10 weeks...
its getting pretty dragged out..
hopefully Fridays ratification vote will be successful and we can get a better idea of delivery time...
i dont even need this car...i just thought it would be fun...in 40 years of only buying new cars I never expected all these annoying obstacles to get in the way of just handing over my money and taking delivery of a shiny new rear mid engine corvette...
Of they ratify friday afternoon itll be ok...if it doesnt get ratified this could be a long long strike motivated by many factors...

Man that's a big side rail... I see what team Corvette meant now when they were discussing why they kept the thicker tunnel to avoid this.

The wait and what I would consider poor customer service from my dealer (no feedback whatsoever) have me doubting. If it goes on long enough and the Z06 is announced I may just get in line with one of the forum dealers who seem to know how to communicate in the modern age.

I feel bad for you early C8 guys, I can imagine the excitement and then frustration brought on by the strike. If it was me I would probably just grin and bear it. Having said that it is comforting to me that I am waiting to see what the Z06 looks like before I make a decision...just enjoying my weekend cruiser C7 Z06 Vert garage queen for at least a couple more years.

Actually, I’m not sure. I’m an early allocation and I’m holding out for a vert. My dealer has told me no one has skipped the line for any reason. But now I’m thinking...if the strike does persist and MY20 is a short run, yeah I want to keep my order. Would be cool to be a part of the first batch of mid engine Corvettes regardless. Feels like a 1983 situation which is kind of cool.

Your definition of "cool" and mine are not the same... cool would be for the car to have not been delayed and come out early this year and be on the road now.

I would imagine a bunch of us would like to show a vote of "no confidence" to the Bowling Green UAW. Now we are very skeptical.

If the strike persists I am all for GM playing hardball. Take as long as it takes for the workers to accept industry standard compensation.
No union boss or white collar worker absorb these additional costs. They are passed on to its customers.
Unhappy, unskilled workers can be easily replaced.
I can wait for my C8.

I think we all should try and take a bigger picture view. Did BG vote NO by majority, yes they did, but by how much. Wasn't it like 55%? So if you line up 100 workers 45 were voting YES. Nobody is concerned at the other plants (I know our main concern is BG) that voted YES by 55%. Those plants also have 45 out of 100 that aren't happy with the contract, yet nobody is concerned about quality at those facilities. If GM had offered a job til death, $200 per hour, and 100% paid benefits, there would still be some that would vote NO. Once they all go back to work, all this will be forgotten by the end of the 3rd work day. They are going to be building C7s for three weeks (might not want those). We are talking about Americans here, we have the attention span of a gnat. By the end of the first week back they'll be betting on football games and life will go on.
