Z06

I have heard rumors the C8R will be revealed today or tomorrow with the Spider. As one of the Engineers was quoted a while back as "listen to the race car to understand what engine the Z will get" it seems pretty clear it is a FPC engine and as FPC's have inherent vibration issues, from an Engineering standpoint (and given that the GT International class allows homologated TT's under 4 liters) that means no "big" cubic inch engines so I am starting to guess we might be getting a 3.9 liter 600-675 H.P.ish FPC V8 TT engine like the Ferrari and McLaren's. That is my hope anyway.

I remember reading this when it came out. Of course some of that info turned out not to be correct, but the interesting part is about the prototype with 900-1000 hp warping the frame and fracturing the glass. IF this is the Z, then the delay may be significant since there seems to be a lot of R&D left to be worked out.

Because the 2020 model is taking a bit longer than expected to roll out and it'll most likely only be a short time after the 2020s are delivered before 2021s will be in production, the Z06 will likely be released as a 2022 model.
Just because the C8 Stingray sells well, it probably won't affect te Z06 release. The C7 Stingray sold really well also and the Z06 still came out in 2015.

Since the Z could have a new double over head cam motor, I could see sitting out the first year of the Z and getting it the 2nd year of production. If the strike ends soon, I should be getting my C8/Z51 by Feb/March that puts my Z in my hand in 2023. Time will tell if I can wait, at least I have a plan.

Would love to see it as a '21, but I fully expect them to wait and bring it out as a '22. That's a long two year wait for someone who isn't interested in the base C8 at all.

No way it goes past 2022 MY.
As said above, C7 was just +1MY for Z06. But it does seem like they would stretch it out a little longer. We'll see.
I could easily see a 2022 car arriving in late 2021.
No matter, I'll probably keep the C8 at least two years, probably three, before trading up.

Man.. heard 2024 (mid 2023 release).. the GS version coming out first. Has the wide front fenders. Dohc engine being the delay for the Z06. And the LT2 only being 2020 thru 2023.. 2024 base C8 will be dohc turbo.
Any one else hear similar? Really thought that was bogus until today.. 2024 for the Z06 man.
