Default Retractable spoiler

How long will we wait for a retractable rear spoiler? a la P car. I think it would be a hit immediately. The only question being, how much of the trunk space would it eat up? If much at all. The looks of the C8 would be preserved, while the aero dynamics would be preserved for speed and track use.
IMO, I think it would be gorgeous.

I think it will come in the future... as you know , Corvette had allot on their plate to do that with the all new C8...just cant offer everything off the bat... I cant wait to see how well this car evolves over the years,,,,its a more than I would have expected for the initial launch of the C8.....

Not having a retractable spoiler probably had a lot to do with added design and manufacturing complexity which adds cost. Not to mention it would have increased the final MRSP even if you did not add that option. GM was absolutely committed to be under $60K at launch.

No argument from me...my old 997 TT...but I do think the McLaren LT's looks even better

IMO you will be waiting forever.

Corvette is a value sportscar, any substantial active aero would add a lot of cost to the car.

However I'd love to see one.

First, I'd rather they move up the exhaust and give us a real diffuser-- where the real aero performance is.

There is that still from a GM video that shows a clay model C8 with what looks like a deployable wing. Who knows if that'll actually come to market with later models or if that was just from initial development and they decided against it. Time will tell.

I would guess this was just something to jazz up the concept. But that's just speculation on my part.

FT1 had an active aero wing, but the Supra lost it by the time production came.

It would be really incredible if we got something like that on the Z06. However, I don't know if the marketing department would be willing to give up the golf club holder. Perhaps we can get by with only one golf bag on the hi-po model.

They could probably squeeze a 911-style wing without losing trunk space but they're mostly for aesthetics. The real-deal active aero and airbrake wings, a-la P1 and 675LT, etc. have to be a lot more robust.

When the buyer is willing to pay another $1500 (the aero pieces) + $1000 (the aero ECU) + $300 (motors) {or slightly more} we will see active aero.

I won't buy a car with a rear spoiler. Alas, my car does have an active one, It pops out 75+ and retracts at 49. Don't like it at all. Keeps me at 74 as much as possible, so that it doesn't show. When I do go 75+, there is a button that will retract it once car returns to 74 or less, without having to wait until car goes below 49, If I went C8, would have to find a way to get rid of it... spoiler delete or something..

You mean this? It's actually a nice looking rear wing/spoiler and seems to follow the rear bumper profile on top as if it "could" extend or retract.

Yes I believe that is it.

Doubt it or something similar makes it to market but my fingers are crossed.

Mini Cooper coupes have a retractable wing that pops out based on speed. I don’t think it added too much cost to the platform.
