Default Accelerate Yellow Metallic Sprayouts, Formula, Videos, Pictures and Comparisons

I own a body shop and decided to do a little digging on the Accelerate Yellow Metallic color today. So we use PPG paint and have access to the entire color library and histories of all colors. So I started with a search in the paint chip books for GD0 and WA622D which are both codes for this color. These books have paint chips of the actual sprayed color and will tell you every model that GM uses the color on. I came up with nothing in the books so then I moved on to the computer database and plugged in the WA622D or GD0 I got a hit! It listed the Accelerate Yellow Metallic and had 1 formula for it. The notes in the database said it was a corvette only color but the strange thing is that the color was listed as being developed and put in the system in 2017! Sounds like they developed the color and saved it for the C8! So since we had a formula for the color we decided to spray it out and I have to say, I am not a yellow guy but this color is awesome out in the sun! I tried to do a video of it but as with any color the camera never really captures it like seeing it in person. I will try again and if I get a good HD video I will post it.

Great find, can't wait to see this in living color. Yellow can be one of the best colors for an exotic car...

When I look at the "Yellow" color on the GM Build-A-C8 it looked like a cross between a lemon and a lime! The OP says it looked like a "Great Yellow" in the sun. Would also like to see what he painted.

Frankly for me the C8 only offers a few colors that I would get (realize it’s subjective and my color preference) so proably back to one similar to my 2014 Z51, Crystal Red Metalic tintcoat and will get Long Beach Red Metalic tintcoat.

From GM Build-A-C8 Website

Thanks for your research and efforts! How about some still shots in the sun and shade instead of trying to capture it via video?

I've seen all but three colors in person, this one I am waiting to see.

I am curious though, how does your system work? It can generate any color by using a base and pigments and a computer code, like house paints at Lowe's and such?

Well, we've seen the color on the panels in BGA so it's not a big surprise. Everyone is just waiting to see it on the full car, outside preferred.

Those are way too green. From seeing the paint sample in person it looks much more yellow

I just searched WA622D and it's there. If you included the (-), it will not show up. FYI, PPG brand code is 949300. If you search your PPG system with that it will show up. As mentioned by others it does seem to have a yellow/lime look from the GM site so I have hopes it will really pop in the sun since it has the silver glass flake in the formula.

Well guess if you want folks to say "Countach", one of the early Lamborghini names - that's OK. It literally means "Oh My Gosh," which is what people will say when you drive by! Some meaning "Great," others "You must be kidding!"

To each their own!

Here are some screen shots that show the info and the toners that make up the Accelerate Yellow Metallic color.

The order of the paint goes in order of most used first.

The red line through the toner and the 0.0 floz is because I never entered a larger amount to be mixed.

Interesting...thanx for the tidbit...I am waiting to look at the Spider and the Z06 but as of now if I had to pick a color it would be the Sebring Orange, the Blue or the yellow.

I don’t think the paint formula is correct. Where is the blue? Tadge said AY had a touch of blue, which makes green.
