Default Sound and heat insulation

Well, I’ve seen some pictures of the interior of the C8 stripped down and it looks like the cab floor and wall is aluminum not plastic composite like the C4-C7. Interested to see how the noise levels are in it. May be a little quieter but may not be.... being as fast as it is I’m sure they keep the weight down in every aspect. One thing I can guarantee is WE CAN MAKE IT QUIETER AND COOLER for sure.

Just going to throw it out there for now - if someone gets a C8 in FL before we do and is interested in a FREE insulation kit and install please contact me. Basically you’d be getting an $800 kit/install for being first. I’d need the car for a full day (vs a normal install 4-5 hours) to make the pieces and take my time with everything.

Thanks guys

Your C7 kit greatly reduced the heat I was getting from the center structure. Tire noise in rear reduced as well (GS wide tires). I'm sure your C8 kit will be a nice upgrade as well.

There maybe some opportunities for flooring insulation. I talked to Mike, the head of interior design at the NCM and he said there is insulation between the carpet and the back firewall, behind the dash panels, on the back of the front tire liners, in the front of th rear tire wells, and on the front panel behind the dash. He said that the car is really quiet and most of what you hear is the exhaust. He commented that some have said the car is too quiet. That’s an interesting comment that will be welcome news.

the dash.

What are you going to make it cooler from? What heat source would your kit supposedly be shielding?

This should be fun.

Tadge touches on noise and then heat starting at 17:50 of this video and said it is far and away the quietest and coolest corvette to date.

There is insulation between the carpet and the rear wall behind the seats on the C6 and C7 as well. I can’t imagine there will be much due to weight savings to make the car run sub 3 second 0-60 but we will have to wait and see I suppose.

Noise is very subjective. I have many customers with high end luxury vehicles that want quieter the better inside the car for daily driving. When they want loud they take the top off and open the exhaust and gas pedal up. Many never do that they just want a Vette with luxury and comfort of a touring vehicle. I’m amazed at the second and third vehicles some of my customers have that are well into the 6 figures in price. Once recently had over 2 million dollars in vehicles in the same 4 car garage. He wanted his new C7 Z06 quiet for business calls and evening cruises with his wife 👍🏻

Im sure he will want a quieter C8 too

Should be interesting to see how the sound and heat levels are in the new model. Having personally owned eight mid engine cars and currently have 3, many (like the C8) will have radiators for cooling in the front. Some get really hot from the rear when sitting in traffic since heat travels up the tunnel through convection and conduction in front of the motor. The front compartment for storage on some is almost an oven.

No telling until I get one to test the results before and after I suppose.

Regardless how quiet the C8 is, with almost 5,000 insulation kits sold to C4-C7 owners over the last 17 years I am sure there will be an improvement to be made that a lot of guys will want.

Multiple GM people said the C8 is the quietest Corvette (inside) they're ever made. And without the hot exhaust going through the tunnel, also the coolest they've ever made. (200 degree coolant vs. 2000 degree exhaust). They claim keeping noise and heat from the engine compartment intruding into the interior was a key design criteria.

Then there's the fact that you don't have a big open space behind the seats where noise can reverberate, and there's a solid firewall between the noisy rear tires and the passenger cabin limiting road noise. I expect GM is telling us the truth.

Glad to know you’re going to make a kit for the C8. I posted earlier that it has more insulation than the C7, but that may not be enough as you said for everyone. I have a high sensitivity to loud noises that wouldn’t affect most people, so the ability to purchase a deadening kit may be needed. Thanks for planning a kit for the C8.

Patiently waiting on C8 kit. Cannot believe no one has taken you up on your free install.

You must agree that one would be apprehensive, having their interior taken out, and then replaced.

I've heard enough creaks, groans and rattles in normal every day driving and would definitely inquire as to exactly had to be removed and replaced.
