Okay, given what I just posted above in a PS, would you have picked either a natural or orange matching color caliper instead of the red caliper shown?

totally agree. although for me the orange is striking, and so is the Rapid Blue, but "for me" both would get old fairly fast but I've never been a big orange fan, that's just me, it all comes down to personal taste and I will never put someone down for there choice of car colors, well maybe except for the BMW red but would always keep my opinions to myself. And if the Orange is your color then a big high five to you. Are you going to change the caliper color to black or something else, but if you like the red go for it

PS: GM missed a $$$ opportunity not offering matching colored calipers to all interiors.
How did you do the refrigerator magnet for your C8?

Bought these magnetic sheets, 2 per package for $1.94 + tax at Walmart. Used a Canon SELPHY to print downloaded configure picture (3.5 x 4.0”) from the Chevy site. Trim picture, apply to sticky side of magnet sheet. Final cut to trim to remove excess magnet sheet. Hint: The Edge will be white thus use a black sharpie to color. The Canon SELPHY use a four step color process with the results glossy, very detailed and a durable finish.

PSS: But if you want to go cheap, just print the picture on white Card stock and will have a Matt finish. And not as durable as with Canon SELPHY unless you use photo paper in your printer which uses a whole 8.5” x 11.0” sheet. In that case use a photo app to configure other pics too on that same paper to save waste.

Better yet as all you’d need are the mag sheets., and should work great.

"Played out" is in the eye of the beholder (or, buyer in this case). That's the only opinion that matters unless you're buying a $70K+ more to satisfy other people than to satisfy yourself. However, EVERYBODY knows red is the business...

If anything is played out, it's black wheels. Remember back when, if your wheels were black, it meant:
  • Your hubcaps were stolen and you couldn't afford to replace them
  • You drove a delivery truck
  • You bought your car from a salvage auction

Yeah! Well, chrome rims were played out 40 years ago. Having them now means you're:
  • a rapper (bling blang! Spinnerz yo!)
  • 65+ years old (snortin that geritol)
  • driving an oldsmobile minivan (with no options selected)
  • favorite music station is The Weather Channel

The question should be... Is General Motors (not Corvette!) being flim-flam?... You betcha!... Red calipers have been around sports cars from the 80's. Had em on my 88 Carrara.!.... To GM: $600.. COME ON MAN.!!!

GM isn't....The retail customer is. Don't like the price? Paint em yourself for $20 (or not)

Anyone seen these in person at a reveal?

Is the Corvette caliper logo a clear-coated decal or raised machine finish?

Thinking of ordering black calipers, and if so desired, refinish them myself for an afternoon of fun DIY, and less than a hundred bucks. ..

Anyone else going possible DIY on their caliper project?

EDIT: From the Brembo brake website concerning the C8 Corvette brakes... they look like stickers, not raised machine finish like the C6 calipers.

I prefer the stick and free black brake caliber.

Ive never been a fan of painting brake calibers and I sure as hell wouldnt pay an extra $400 for red, blue, yellow etc..

just not my thing.

Its ridiculous that they are a $ 650 up charge.....the paint doesn't cost more and the paint process is the same...and for those that say it adds complexity to the build..thats BS..... If there was no up charge..most would chose red...and black would be second place...

Its just a slimy way to take advantage of us buyers ....Im not falling for it...
I don’t look at them as a $650 upcharge. More like $325, because I expect to get about 50% of the MSRP for the car back when I trade it in in a few years. So is $325 a lot for a few years of driving and enjoyment? I don’t think so...

I prefer yellow in almost all color combinations but it really is to each their own.

I am doing almost the exact same car with the edge reds, too!
