Default State Fair of Texas & C8

Given that the Texas dealer tours don't start until late October that's still almost two months away. Our state fair starts in less than a month and has a huge auto show, any chance or has anyone heard if the C8 will be on display there?

Don’t mess with Texas.

Texas is a great country and we can sustain ourselves.

I wasn’t born in Texas but I got here as fast as I could.

I had a ‘97 Chevy 1-ton dually for a while, then switched to a Tacoma’s (had a fleet of 3 for me and a couple of the boys). Back in a F150 King Ranch in my old age.

Working on getting a c6 GS by the end of September and be a legitimate member of the forum.

I have actually seen a lifted 4wd C3 driving around town about 20 years ago.

Come on Corvette lovers give us a break "us Texan Vet lovers:". The Texas State Fair had C-7 vets to drive back in 2014, GM knows this is the place to show off the new C-8. I hope it happens.

Who can shed more details about either the C6 or C7 test ride accident at the Texas State fair that wiped out about 5 Vettes. After that, I would say zero chance of a test ride this year.

Yes, the state fair is where I saw my first C7 in person, then stood in line to drive one - but I really don't see them offering the drives this year, I'm currently on my 6th corvette, and this is the first time that the vette is not my DD - Ironically , my DD is a one ton dually but without the gun rack.

BY SAM MCEACHERN — OCT 17, 2013

A 2014 Impala crashed into a row of three 2014 Corvettes at a Chevrolet Ride and Drive event at the Texas State Fair yesterday, proving once again, that some of us just can’t have nice things.

According to Jalopnik, the driver slammed the rear end of the new Impala into the row of parked Corvettes. A poster from Corvette forum says the event was held on a small test track, where the speed limit was supposed to be only 20 mph.

No more details on the crash are available at this time other than what’s seen in the photo. This is the second wreck involving a Velocity Yellow Corvette C7 in the past week.

Going to be at the Texas State Fair this fall. Would love to see the C8 as part of the big auto display.

Can't see it here in Houston until November at Classic Chevrolet in Sugarland (south H-town suburb).

The C7 was already in production by that time. C8 isn’t just yet.

Chevrolet is a sponsor of the Texas State Fair and contrary to some speculation in this thread, the Chevrolet "Ride & Drive" is on the agenda, including being able to drive a Corvette (no, it won't be a C8):

Step right up, folks. You’re in for a thrill ride. Chevrolet is the official vehicle of the State Fair of Texas, and we’re back with our popular “Ride & Drive” attraction.1

And this year, you have the chance to test drive the latest member of the Chevrolet SUV family, the exciting and all-new Chevy Blazer.

Hours and Location

September 27 – October 20, 2019
10 a.m.– 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday;
9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday through Sunday

Located in Chevrolet Park, northeast of the Top o’ Texas Tower and the Midway.

Choose one of the available vehicles from our lineup.

Our new driving course has been fully revamped, with incredible new obstacles, there’s also an array of amazing Chevy vehicles to choose from, Silverado, Camaro2, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe, Colorado and Corvette2.
Footnotes:
1 Vehicles will run unless weather is deemed unsafe by track officials. Check with Chevrolet Ride & Drive staff for the most up-to-date status of the track. Guests 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license and upon passing a breathalyzer test are eligible to drive. Friends and family members (over 4’9”) may ride along. Children under 13 years of age are not allowed to ride in the front seat of the vehicle. All occupants must be properly restrained/belted.
2 Must drive at least one other vehicle before driving these vehicles.
