Who's trading their C7 in toward a C8?
I have a 2019 GS that I will be trading in on a C8. In NYS you pay tax on the difference, so trading the car in makes sense vs. selling the car outright! I know I would not be able to sell the car privately to make up the tax consequence. I just hope the value of the C7's don't tank badly. So, who is trading in their C7 for a C8?

I sold my C7 Z06 about a month ago in order to buy the C8. Didn't trade it in because the price I received more than covered the sales tax difference (car is registered in NY). Also wanted to sell before there was potentially an over-supply on the market. Dealer provided me with sound advice on the selling price vs. trade-in value.

I too sold my 2019 C7Z private and ordered a 2020 Z51 3LT. Paperwork went through my dealer on the sale so I save the taxes on the 2020

I don’t know what state you are in but in my state (MO) you have 6 months to use the trade-in credit then it’s gone. Might want to check into that if you haven’t already since deliveries are likely 6 months or more out. Just a thought

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
We already early traded our '17 GS in for our pending C8. Paying sales tax on the difference, as well as getting top $$$ trade value made our decision a no brainer. Yes, we are without a car for 6 months, but so be it. 3 of those months it would not get driven much at all anyways.
The dealer has already sold our '17 GS 3LT to someone near Philly.

Depending on your dealer relationship, if you're buying a car at sticker, most will help you sell your car to an individual.
Meaning you make the deal... Bring it to them and they'll process it as a trade-in that they immediately sold to your buyer.
You may pay a $500 doc fee, but you also get your trade in tax credit of several thousand dollars.
Buyer pays nothing extra... And knows all the docs are legit and it's no possible scam.
Dealership makes $500 in an hour and has you locked into that msrp purchase.
It's a win all around

Already traded the 2016 C7 in on the C8.
Since it is still nice weather and the C7 was under original factory warranty the trade dollars were a lot better.
Trade Tax benefit will apply when the C8 gets titled (even if the C8 does not deliver this year).
Only downside is the dealer sits on my trade money until the C8 comes in.
I still have my C5 to play with along with the Viper.
I think once the C8 comes in that these cars will get some rest.
I would have liked to hang on to the C7 but garage space and limited Play money made that out of the question.

Keeping my C7. I have always been a fan of the front engine, long snouted Ferraris. That design is what caught my eye when the C7 was released so I have no reason to switch as the C7 gives me everything I want. Plus no manual in the C8, I am a purist in that regard, believe that a true sports car should be a manual. To each their own.

Sold my Porsche Carrera cabriolet to get the C8, this will be my 7th corvette and 62nd car, this C8 s a keeper.

The irony here is that all of these cheap C7's on the market may actually bring more young folks into the Corvette tent than the C8...

Better check
Some states only allow a 30 lapse in time to get the sales tax credit. If you trade in your car you have 30 days to get the new car. New York is that way. That’s why I haven’t traded in my car yet. The dealer has promised me in writing the same trade in value even if January or February. That’s a world class dealer. Pinebelt chevy in Lakewood Nj.

If I can I'll keep my '14 if not I'll ship it to the USA or sell it privately, either way I have a year to think about it.
