Midway Chevrolet, Phoenix, reveal review - Complete Disaster!
I typically never write negative reviews on the Internet. Just not my style. However, today's reveal at Midway Chevrolet in Phoenix, AZ, was such a waste of time I feel compelled to share my experience.
Upon arriving at 9 a.m., the time the reveal began, there was no where to park. The parking lot was packed. Oh well! Finally managed to find a parking spot but had issues when we went to leave. Someone had double-parked directly behind us. Unbelievable!
Never saw the car! They put the car and all the accessories in a corner of the dealership that couldn't have been larger than 25' X 25'. Hundreds of people were surrounding the car, four deep. They failed to rope off the car so you could actually see it. The only chance you could see it is if you leaned over the car like everyone was doing. Then, you couldn't see but a tiny portion of the car you were leaning on. It was horrible!
Spent an hour looking at the butts of people four deep surrounding the car. Again, the first row of people were actually leaning (touching) the car so you couldn't see much of anything even if you were in the first row. Beyond that, forget it!
Again, the place was packed as they had a radio station transmitting live from the dealership.
Never did see the rear of the car, the side scoops or the front nose. Never saw any profile of the car whatsoever. Just saw butts. No standing back admiring the lines of the car much less seeing what it actually looked like. Photos were impossible!
The accessories (seats, wheels, etc.) display was within five feet of the car surrounding it on two sides. Again, only the first row of people could look at the accessories as their face was within inches. No standing back admiring the accessories.
Recommendation for future reveals. Hold the people back somehow so everyone can actually see the entire profile of the car. Don't allow people to crowd around it, touching and leaning against it. Blocks the view for everyone!

Excellent feedback from you. Similar situation at Carlise yesterday. You could not really see most of the cars because they were totally covered with people up next against them. Also, they always have front and rear trunk lids open so you don't really see what the car looks like.
I went to a reveal at Schumaker in New Jersey a couple of weeks ago and they did a VERY good job. Only let small groups at a time go see the car and others were kept in line. Worked well, but maybe didn't have as many people there in total.

Sounds like a dealership wasted $16 K.

I was there. I parked across the street at the donut/coffee chop. Eas(ier) in/out...and a cup of good coffee too.
I was there about 10am. Place was swamped (donut shop swamped too, but much bigger open parking lot). And all of my six pictures are of people, with an occasional part of a blue car in the background. Well, there is always the auto show on Thanksgiving....

I was there also. Got there just after 10am (and got dusted by a C6 who blew by me on I-17N!). Disaster is a strong word, but there definitely wasn't enough space for it. I only got one picture I would consider decent. It should have been roped off and limited the number of people who could get up close to the car.
There was one guy there who kept prattling on about "my Corvette" and was walking up to random people to dispense basic Corvette facts. Strange dude. He must not have noticed the other 80 Corvettes in the parking lot.

Hmmm, was looking forward to finally seeing it in a couple of weeks. But it’s the only NorCal dealer showing and I fear it’ll be the same situation. I may skip it and just wait for things to calm down. Thanks for the heads up!

"DIsaster" would have been a couple of ***-scratchin' dudes with pins in their hats show up.... sounds like SRO... all asses and elbows... no parking even at The Dunk'n, crossa street... smells like success to me...

All morning I sat here wondering if I made the right decision. Sounds like I did.

The event at Van Chevrolet on Tuesday is an invitation only event, I believe. At least, that’s what it says on my emailed invite! Hope it goes better than the Midway event!

Road America was pretty well done. Couldn't get near it or touch it. There's a dealer near me showing one on September 30th. We'll see how well that's handled.

Maybe they should have a private showing for everyone of us. Or maybe they should charge like 50 bucks a head so there will be plenty of parking and you can get up real close to it. Then you can have a priority price of 100 bucks each and that gets you inside the car along with some fancy sandwiches.

Just got back. Late afternoon during new balance nap time worked out great! No crowd, got to sit in both seats with no wait. Figured I’d share my anecdotal experience in case it resonates with someone who cant get to one.
6’1 195lb average build dude here. Passenger side felt snug. Would be fine for the ladies, but a co-worker for lunch would be cramped. Mostly in the leg width. Drivers side was fine, had no complaints and feel like there was enough adjustment to figure out something comfortable.
I was on the fence about LT1 or 2 and I am now completely sold on LT1. I adjusted the mirror and really didnt have a problem with the view..seemed adequate and normal to me. PDR, folding mirrors, cameras etc I am not interested in/don’t need.
The GT2 seat which is extra for LT2 anyway I really couldnt tell if it was napa leather or not with one hand on each. Not sure if the display was equipped with nappa or not. It seemed about the same texture and quality between that and the base seat. Check mark goes to the base seat for me.
The comp textile was on display as well and didnt seem like a good $2k upgrade. The bottom side bolsters although bigger felt kinda flimsy which confirms why there is a pic floating around here with extreme wear showing already on the drivers side entry piece. The textile probably holds up fine, but for 2k the value isnt there for me.
The brakes on display looked awesome imo. Especially the yellow. Had a unique glow to them. The 2 reds looked good as well. I can see why they have the upcharge, but $600 is a bit much. Ill prob stick w the black.
I asked to lift the roof out of the trunk. It is snapped into place. A firm pull on the top edge releases it. I was able to negotiate the z51 spoiler just fine. Putting it back, there is no way to line it up other than eyeballing it and giving it a whack to snap it in place. Kind of a ‘hope this works’ type thing. Im sure you can get good at it.
Drivers cockpit is awesome. The view out the front was great. The volume up/down button is a pull button on the lower wheel. Thought that was a little different than what I’m used to. The grey interior looked pretty beat up. The drivers entrance was brutally worn. Like it had 150k on the clock. Overall awesome car with incredible presence.
