Default Dealership dropping ADM

Just one of those For UR Information things.

Under much pressure from our local dealership here along the Carolina Coast, the dealership I was working with has dropped their $5K markup for LOCAL loco customers only. Many of us complained and it worked. I am now back in and ordering today at MSRP. I wanted to work with the local dealership and they now see they can either make a short-term gain or make a long-term relationship. They chose the latter.

I was going to drop them as the ADM put me over my $80K max cost.

For anyone who is getting the same "We will charge markup the first year" crap, hang in there. Complain. Talk up the chain of command. Find others who are considering the C8 to complain. Voices will be heard.

If they tried to screw you once, they will again.

Good luck when your car arrives (if it does)...

Default Adm?

Id say you can't un ring that bell. I would not give them a second chance. Go to one of the large Forum dealers that has way more allocations. Also better reputation for not screwing people when the opportunity presents itself. I had a large Chicago area dealer screw me when the 06 Z06 came out. I was not only done withe that dealer but Chevy as well! (Till the C7 Z06 came out lol) . This time I'm going with Mike Ferman at Criswell.

It also doesn't make any business sense when there are plenty of dealerships who are not charging ADM, and most will be within a few hours drive of anyone in the US. I think most people are willing to drive a few hours to save $5k+.

Whatever system GM put in place to discourage ADMs (unlike other brands), it's working, so thanks GM!

Yeah, watch out for invoice items that somehow magically end up adding to 5k... Once shady, always shady.

Greed makes you blind and stupid.
Every time a dealer starts this ADM $hit, they don't realize they are putting themselves on "Black List". Once you get on that list, you're dead. No one wants to deal with those dealers.

These are also the dealers not willing to negotiate on the price of any vehicle. They are the ones calling "No Haggle" a feature. I don't waste my time at dealerships that do that.

Done deal. Only charge that was not part of the config+tax+license and I bitched about is the G-Dam documentation and filing fee. Nickle and dime crapola.

That is what I would say. They may change their mind once the car comes in. I would just use Autotrader for the whole US and then fly there, pick it up and have a nice mini-vacation driving it back. But I would bring a roll of 3M film and put on the front end.

In today's internet shopping environment the small dealers may have to get with the program. We're not stuck buying locally anymore. I really like buying vettes from MacMulkin right now.

I have no problems if a Dealer charges ADM.

I'll take my business elsewhere, it's that simple.

Altho I've sometimes given up on a dealer (or really, anyone selling anything) that comes down in price from a ridiculous starting point, I might rethink this one dealer.

Obviously, whatever was said by those who complained about the escalated price got to the "financial part of the brain" of whomever is the decision maker. And that person or persons decided it was in their best "financial interest" to NOT charge an ADM on the C8.

That means, they actually DID take to heart and wallet, what was being told to them for whatever reason, but probably financial. That's a good thing IMO. This may be a dealer who has listened for a change, and it could be semi-permanent. My suggestion is take it slow, read all the fine print, and go forward with it.

Good Luck! and Good Story.
