For those passing on the C8, why are you here?

Agree 100% with the above statement. Such a stupid statement. Can afford one if I want, just don’t. It’s more of a toy. Touring in it would be a joke trying to find room to store things. Don't see all the hype about it doing 0-60 in three seconds. Who out there is going to to drag that car. Big deal about able to do 194 mph. My 03 does 172 so I’ve read. Never going to see those numbers nor want to. And yes it’s a nice lookin car.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting one in a few years and like learning about it here ( well maybe not here cause this thread is useless). Is that acceptable ?

But I can't see bashing those who do like it, nor am I anywhere near the "ugly as an Aztek" camp. I saved that for the Senna and Bugatti -- and of course that generated some strong disagreement. Why not -- they'll sell every one of those things they can make, just like the C8 will sell out for at least a year or two...
So I'm staying on this thread because the rollout of any new Vette generation is hugely important and fascinating -- and I hope to get over the "ugly" bit because it is an exciting platform...

Very entertaining thread. I think the C8 is a fantastic car for 60k although I will not get one without a stick and yes I think the rear is too long. I love Corvettes and enjoy reading about them and throwing my2 cents in from time to time.

I have a C7 and am very happy with it. It is just a 2014 Z51 but is at the top of what I can afford. I feel very blessed to have it. I usually go look around the general discussion of all of the Corvette generation forms because I think they are all interesting. The C8 looks like a great car and is the continuation of the Corvette family. I’m not hating on anybody no matter what generation Corvette they have.

I have a 350R and C7 Z51 M7 vert. I'm in here because I keep trying to like the C8. I wanna like it. I honestly do. But I haven't yet. My 350R is going no where. It's the C7 that would be sacrificed if I get around to liking the C8. So far the C7 is pretty safe. Maybe the Z06 version will be the answer.

You're being coy. You and I both know he doesn't care that you're here. He's asking the haters to take the hate elsewhere. Of all the performance car communities I've belonged to I've loved and respected the Corvette community the most because of the civility and comraderie. I drive the vette and other vette owners smile and wave. I drive the (insert car name) and there's zero acknowledgement from other owners. We're a community. We're family -- all generations of vettes!

Every Corvette since the C3 shouldn't be considered a Corvette. Now...GET OFF MY LAWN. Sorry this thread pulled it out of me. As for the OPs message, I think it was a fair question.

Why am I here?
It’s not about badmouthing or denigrating the C8. It is an awesome car and will break records. It is about following posts about the new tradition breaking vehicle. Will it live up to the hype? Will there be major service issues (as in every new generation Corvette)? Will it break sales/track records? What will the media performance/views of the C8 be? Just as C6 owners followed the frenzy before the C7 release (and occasionally dropped sour grapes) without necessarily placing an order, C7 owners are doing the same. And one day, who knows?

The new C8 is a conundrum. It's an engineering and packaging achievement without peer. A remarkable automobile that will only get better. It's also the ugliest car--by far--that GM has produced since the Aztek. The design is absolute, bloated, chaos that betrays the brilliant concept drawings.

I honestly think it's great that any and all are here getting all info they can about the C8. Doesn't matter if you have no intention of buying one, just curious, don't own any model Corvette, or don't even own a car. The true core of the thread was if you are truly passionate about not liking the car, I get that, everyone has their owns feelings and likes, but those who just bash the car and CONTINUE to bash it, why are you here? Go to where you're happy, life's too short to be miserable. The number of responses to this has shown how passionate people are for Corvette and that's a very cool thing.

Is stating the obvious "bashing?" Two things can be true simultaneously
I do see your view, and I worded it poorly. I didn't add enough to it. Obviously everyone is welcome here and all have the same right to be here. I was really talking about those who just bash the car and say they will never buy one. It's the bashing that I don't get. If they don't care for it, it is clearly their prerogative, but to just keep bashing it what do they think they are accomplishing?
You may like the chaotic design. But compared to the C4, C5, 6, 7, the C8 is a blocky jumble of lines and creases. That's an objective, measurable, fact.
Beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. But that won't make the lines smoother, the design less blocky, the fat rear end stylish, or add six inches of downslope to the whale shark mouth.

I have no plans to buy one but I respect the car and the direction it’s going. GM has stated many times they’ve gone as far as they can with a front engine car. My biggest disappointment is it’s their flagship car and it looks too much like a Camaro from behind. If I came into a big pile of cash I’d still never pay sticker for a C8 or any vehicle. Give them 3 years to work out the bugs. There will be bugs with an all new dual clutch transmission and a brand new mid engine design. Just look back to how the C7 Z06 would overheat and all the 8spd auto woes that plagued that model ever since it was introduced.

Some of the questions or statements "ASKED" such this topic regarding the C8 of fellow Corvette owners, force me to ask...is this person asking... really intelligent enough to even drive..let alone a Vette?

I never did any such thing.

The C8 is an absolute freak of engineering achievement. The design is also a chaotic mess. Both can be true and the C8 proves it.
You may like the chaotic design. But compared to the C4, C5, 6, 7, the C8 is a blocky jumble of lines and creases. That's an objective, measurable, fact.

I am still here because I suspect the Z06 and ZR1 variants could have performance levels high enough to tip the scales to the point that I can look past the design, or that hopefully they do some modifications to the design to make it look a little better.
So, I like to keep tabs on the forum so I am up to speed on developments with the higher end models.

at least trolls are entertaining, people asking what color they should buy or if they should get Z51 or not, those people are more annoying than the trolls, Jesus, get what you want not what a bunch of strangers say. Oh and those that feel the need to post pics or what they're going to order on every one of their posts...wow, how old are you?
