Default Good picture of the rear diffuser and why no center-exit exhaust

The black elements at the rear of the car are often hard to really get a good look at. This picture shows the shape of the center diffuser very well. You can see the center element is thicker and the profile is key to creating the low pressure area to speed air flow under the car. You can’t have that shape with the center exit exhaust unless you move the exhaust tips up high in the license plate area. If you did that, you’d have no rear trunk and no place for the targa panel.

After reading many of these crazy threads, maybe some need the exhaust exiting into the cabin.

I'd love to see someone do open headers that exit through cutouts in the rear trunk like a Porsche 918...

That's what you gleaned from my post? The observation was how substantial the center diffuser shape was. That explains the exhaust arrangement.

Exactly. We DON'T want the dumb Ford GT exhaust placement, which really looks like a pig's face.

Cars that have high exhausts like this run the risk of burning unsuspecting passers-by and even owners who forget. This is one reason why McLaren lowered the exhausts in their 570S and GT series. 600LT (or whatever it is called, has the exhaust exiting from the engine cover, high-up.

Center exhaust

High up on back

On top of rear deck

All exotic type...

At either end of car? Meh...

I hope they do something different for C9.

I love the C5 C6 C7 setup. On this car it would have made it that much better imho

Yes it does, the quad center exhaust looks very nice and it have been a Corvette signature for the last three gen.

I am 100% sure owners will figure a way to exhaust out the targa, re: Porsche 918

their packaging is just a little different from the C8

Wouldn't have to worry about that. With the exhaust exiting that way there wouldn't be a trunk to lean into.
