Should I sell my '69 Chevelle for C8?
#61
For me, it would be gone in a New York minute. But then, I have no emotional tie to it. There are two cars in my past that if I had now, would not get sold. So it depends on how you feel about the 396.
It's a very personal decision, and I do not think anyone here can really help you decide. Good luck with the deliberation. Pat

That Chevelle looks mint. If it were me, and I was attached to that car, there is no way I would sell it. You'll never get it back. C8s will be a dime a dozen in a few years, and available at any time. Situations change over time. Maybe you'll have more space later. Maybe finances will be better. Then you can have both.

no,, don't sell your chevelle please.
it's a classic

No. Lord, please no. Nope. No way.

No way in hell!! They are making no more of those beauties. While the C8 will flood the market.

Nice car but lets be honest.Old cars are **** to drive. No power no handling or braking no comfort.Out it goes and never look back. The c8 is an engineering marvel. And you can cruise on the highway without reving 4000 rpm.The old cars only have one thing going on.They are nice to look at.Not to drive.

You can buy a C8 anytime. Selling your Chevelle can be irreversible (or costly) if you realize it was a mistake. I'd say wait until the C8 comes out and you've had time to see it, drive it, read reviews on it, and see what other models are coming down the line. Then make a decision you'll be 100% confident with.
GM will make lots of C8s. They will not make lots of '69 Chevelles.

Sell your daily cars... keep both of your 2-weekend cars... add a C8 to the stable... problem solved!

Man, I miss that incredible under hood simplicity... at least until I drive my C7. But the Chevelle is beautiful, especially since it seems to bone stock and not all hacked up. I am not a collector but I'm not sure what I'd do
I don't see an auto tranny dipstick... is the Chevelle a 4 speed manual?

The new Corvette will be much more fun to drive than the Chevelle. Your Chevelle is a show car, as are most of the ones being posted. I had a 1974 Trans Am a few years ago and while beautiful, and well restored, it didn’t drive that well. Technology has come along way. Do you want to drive or show?
As people who grew up and came of age in the 1960s pass on, the value of muscle cars will likely go down. We may be at the height of their popularity. Selling at the height of the market may not be a bad plan.
Just my two cents.

You will regret it, keep the car and have fun with it, the Corvette will drop moment you leave the dealership, your 396 is always keep it price.

You may regret selling it. I really regret selling my 1989 Carrera Targa. I have had 29 cars, but that one I should not have sold. Having said that, they made a lot of Chevelles and as the boomers retire they may get softer.

No way would I sell. C8's will be a dime a dozen on the road in a couple years. You have a car that will always be a true head turner.
I actually regret selling my first Corvette, a 2004 CE coupe. Its nothing special now, but it was my first corvette and loved the LeMans Blue.

I sold this 32 highboy (and the C5) to get a C7. For me it was a question of usage. I only drove the Deuce 500 mi a year and it sat most of the time. Sure it holds its value and the C7 will depreciate like a rock (just like your 69 vs a C8) but it was more fun to drive one than to look at one sitting in the garage.

That was then, this is now. I am 72 years old. I have been DD Vettes for fifty years, 22 lifetime Vettes. Not one time did I ever look back and pine away for what I had. I am a driver, not a collector. This is my personal take on your "dilemma". At any rate this is a personal decision for you. An internet car forum is no place to go for yth
s ghpe of advuce.
s ghpe of advuce.
a financial advisor who probably knows little about the emotional attachment to the car or the value of a classic and probably is not a car guy?
a physiologist who understands (maybe) your emotional make up?
your wife???
Your best friend? Maybe.
A forum is full of car guys sometimes having gone through similar experiences. Just have to be able to sort out the intelligent responses from the tons of dumb responses.

I'm thinking about selling my 69 chevelle for the c8.
The car is in mint condition and was fully restored in 2017. I have about 54 thousand into it and live the car but I wont have time to drive both cars. And I dont have the space for 2 weekend cars. It will be a sad day if I sell it but at the same time the smile on my face driving a c8 I think will help

As a result of your ownership and restoration experience, you know the car intimately. You know how the car drives and how it makes you feel when driving it.
Having space for 1 weekend car, I’d suggest waiting until you can have a LIVE experience with the C8 to better see if it confirms your desire to sell the beautiful car you already have.
Your car will continue to be beautiful and have similar $value a year from now.

Those old 911s are outrageous money pits over any length of time, be glad you are out it. They suck big compared to what we have now. I've owned over 50 cars in my life and can tell you that the '86 930 that I sold decades ago was far and away the worst automobile I have ever owned and do not miss that POS one bit.
