Z51 yes or no?

Big ones:
If you don't also spec mag ride, it will ride rougher than the base car.
Front splitter likely will be slightly harder to get over speedbumps, curbs, steep driveways.
You might not like the look of the wing.
Summer tires might not be great in the snow or cold weather.
Also:
Higher gear ratio will hurt fuel economy.
You might not like spending more.
More brake dust. (apparently this is actually a thing?)
You will lose a few mph on the top end with the wing.
Heavy duty cooling too heavy and too cool.
Electronic LSD will break if an EMP hits.

Thank you appreciate it! I see everyone's points for both-
1. Ill never ever track,
2. Will use as a fun car to go out with the wife, weekend days out and to love to look at lol=-- Will probiblly never go over 100 MPH
BUT
I do not want to look back and say hey for 7grand you should have gotten this as this was the best possible car you could have gotten
Not sure if that makes sense Lol

Z51 has to be optioned on the C8 because you want the magnetic shocks.
2LT min the 1LT is weak sauce in what you get.
Also so you need the front lift system which is only available on 2LT and 3LT.
You need 3LT if you want the black with red stitching or black with yellow stitching...
This is gonna be an expensive car but we still don’t know what the prices of the options will be...next week!

Really three decision levels.
1. Base
2. Base with Mag Ride
3. Z51
Assuming price is not a big issue, I have enough experience with MR to definitively say MR is worth its weight in gold. And, that goes for touring use, serious play, and most track play. Keep in mind that with the new C8 suspension system, the MR will now likely be more effective than ever before. We’ll have to wait and see what drivers like Pobst say about all that.
Z51 is pretty much for folks who want to play hard and maybe track some. The Z51 Michelin 4S tires are great. We have them on tw cars already.
But, the base car with MR and the newly developed high grip All Season Michelin’s might be a real winner for everyone who lives in cold & wet regions and especially snow areas and doesn’t wat to play hard.

The Z51 option has traditionally been a good value for what you get for the money. That's just my opinion but I'd be surprised if most on this forum don't agree. One thing is for sure is that the Z51 option definitely increased the car's resale value (see blue book pricing history) and made it more desirable if and when that time comes.
That said, Z51, unlike most options, does NOT depreciate in a crazy fashion so in the end, the option was basically free when you trade.
2016 Corvette Coupe (base) w/25,000 miles: Avg. trade in is $35,568
Same car with Z51: Avg. trade in is $40,409

While you will get more for a Z51 car than a base car in trade, you also paid more.

Thanks for the info.
Seems like OP has nothing to lose by going with Z51! Also makes my earlier post likely misleading. Based on KBB (which I used in my research) you are saying the $5K extra I paid to get $20K worth of extras on my recently purchased 2015 all went to the Z51; the rest of the stuff being essentially free!!!

As a matter of fact, we did!
And just like January 2013, we have the "Real men order Z51, Waxers order base" mindless drivel to keep us busy.
It's deja vu all over again.....
PS. I gotta tell you Steven, I think the C8 is going to cause some real issues here at the Forum.
For one thing, the Z51 package is now the ONLY thing that's going to separate the men from the boys. Think about it....only ONE transmission choice so there goes the weekly "real men drive manuals" dust ups that were always so.....stupid? And no chrome wheels so that crushes the "OLD men order chrome, it has NO place on a sports car. You don't see chrome wheels on a Ferrari" because certain members of our esteemed forum think it's their place to tell others how to spec out THEIR cars and spend THEIR money.
Man, I'm already longing for the "good old days".

how many of these exact threads have popped up since the introduction of the C7?
Here, if you want to get it, get it, if you have to ask if it's worth it then maybe you shouldn't.
