C8 in-person observations

Maybe the paint chips on the tour aren't representative. I don't see how anyone could see "brown" in Sebring Orange. It is about as orange as orange can be.
I'm also not bothered by start/stop. It's in our current Jeep and Alfa, and we've also had it in our previous Jaguar F-Type, and MB C300. We've never found it instrusive at all. All have/had buttons to turn them off, and we never did. The engines started before we could get foot from brake to throttle.

Is the width and length of the door much bigger than the C7 by a drastic amount?
I am asking because I have a narrow condo garage that I can somewhat comfortably open on the drivers side only.
Also, is the rear all that bad in person? I suppose the wider Z06 model will make it better as it did the C7.
Thank you for posting.

I forgot to mention a couple things. There was credible information at the event that there is a twin turbo coming in the future with 900+ hp.
Also, there aren't any yellow cars on the road at present, but that we should be seeing them soon.
This last bit is a somewhat troublesome but expected. Start/Stop tech. The car will have it. No surprise there. But the question is, will you be able to disable it. On short drives, yes. On longer drives, unknown, apparently they are still sorting that out. Many manufacturers are adding options to allow you to disable start/stop not only temporarily but permanently (even after you turn off the car) so that the next time you get in, it is still turned off. GM is trying to sort out what they want to do here. One option on the table is for GM to not allow you to disable it permanently and make it easy to map disable of start/stop to the Z button on the steering wheel. This would mean you get in, you tap the Z button with your thumb and it is disabled. I don't like that, but if they are going to force you to use it, that may be the easiest way to deal with it.

This information comes from Harlan Charles: Corvette & Camaro Marketing and Product Manager
The C8 Corvette will NOT have the Stop/Start tech.

Safety Car
I just confirmed in writing with Harlan, in his return email, “NO start/stop on the C8.”

I dunno. I've driven a few BMWs and Porsches with the system, and I can't say they are any better. For casual driving it works ok. Maybe I am just overly senstive and want complete control of the car. In any event, for spirited driving, none of the systems I have seen are sufficient. There is no way to avoid a slight delay between the time you let off the brake and when the car starts up. Your foot will always be faster.
Confirmed it was annoying in my F10 5-series, even though the disable button is right below the start/stop button. Fortunately this can be coded out at a tuner shop (or if you're handy with a laptop) to be off by default. Being new to the Corvette scene (I was a Trans Am guy) I'm not sure if Corvettes can be coded though, especially the new E99 ECU.

Burning Brakes
I have it in my 2018 Grand Cherokee V6. I hate it. It stumbles when trying to quickly move into traffic. Fortunately I found a way to disable it by disconnecting the hood open sensor. Then you get a warning that the hood is open when you start it up but the warning goes away.

Sorry it does look big compared to a C7. It looks big because its 6 inches longer and 2 inches wider.
This is not a "small car'.

Just saw the Orange at Atlantic Chevy. I fit into the car well. I'm 5'9" and 185#.
The Sears Appliance WHITE, the Primer White/ gray looks like an unfinished car.
The light blue looks like Earl Scribe $49.99 1970 paint job.
I think the Orange, Long Beach Red, Black and dark blue are the colors to go with.
It's a shame the Caddy Colors did not make it as they have some really great colors.
The car looks great. It should be a success, just hope they get their act together and get some real deep colors.

Thanks for the great pics. Still undecided on the looks myself but your pictures do it justice. Trying to determine if it actually looks good or if it is just the new shiny thing now effect. When I first saw the C7 it made me want to go out and buy one right now. I am not getting that from the C8 but I may change my mind when I see it in real life. Also I am a huge fan of the Ceramic Matrix Grey. That would be the color I would get a C8 Z06 in.
After the excitement of the reveal I was surprised that, like you, my reaction on seeing it in person was not nearly as bonkers as when I first saw the C7.
As a big fan of Zora’s mid-engine dream since the late 60’s, I really wanted to get blown away, but you just never know...

Thank you very much for taking time to post. I read an article about a man that was 6'5" and 260 Lbs and he couldn't quite fit comfortably in a C7 and had to pass on it. He sat in the C8 and he had leg room and head room. He was typical proportion between torso and legs and said it definitely there is more room bottom to top and horizontal. An inch or two can be very significant.

The only cars with start/stop that work well, are the ones with 48V mild hybrid integration in the drivetrain. Like the new Mercedes straight 6 motors. Forget about it in any car with a traditional starter motor. Unless you can defeat it with a button, I would never buy a car that forced it on.
