Everyone who is ordering the C8 NEEDS to read this article...
The link below is to an article written by Dave Salvatore of Kerbeck Corvette. Dave explains in detail the ordering process once you leave a deposit for your new C8 and how allocation, consensus, and constraints all come into play during the ordering and waiting process.
Dave also covers why ordering from a higher allocation dealer has benefits over a lower allocation dealer when there are constraints on the car.

the polite thing to do is to provide a brief summary when posting a link. That way people have some idea if they want to go to the link. I have ordered Corvettes before and understand the process, I could have skipped the article if there was a brief summary.
Thanks!

It is a good article if you have never ordered a Corvette or do not understand the order process and the different event codes.

You will most likely get a car if your dealer has allocation. This article explains why in some circumstances even if you were #1 on your dealers list why you may not get the car in the first build cycle. Some people are under the false impression that if they are one of the first to leave a deposit on their dealers wait list, they will DEFINITELY be one of the first to get the C7 in the first month they are built or the first build cycle.

At this point, it doesn't make a difference where you are on their list. I am sure they will be in touch once your place the deposit for the actual order. Then it begins to make a difference. For example, let's say they have 800 $1000 deposits on their wait list as of today. Pricing will be released on 8/15/19. Out of the 800 people on the wait list, some will drop off, let's say 100 drop off the list and want a refund of their $1000. So now 700 are on the list. Of those 700, some people want the convertible, well they will be pushed to the back of the line. Some people may need some time to come up with the remaining 5% of the purchase price, so they will be pushed back, then there are the people that want a color that has late availability, they will be pushed back, so out of 800 people, it is possible that 500 people will actually leave the full deposit on a timely basis and order a car with no availability issues or constraints. Then, at that point, it matters where you are on the list. Just be patient. Kerbeck has done this many times before and has a method to the madness. I would be more concerned about the people that left a deposit at a dealer that is telling them now that they will get a car during the first build cycle as it's too early to tell.

Kerbeck is playing off everybody's fear that they won't be the first one on the block to get their C8.. Buy from me or you'll be the very last person to get your C8.
Not saying that Kerbeck orders won't be first, just pointing out he's planning off everybody's fear of loss. .

This forum needs to be renamed the Complain Forum. The OP was just trying to help out and there always has to be someone who starts bitching. It took you more time to type your stupid comment than it would have to click the link. Next time, if you have a problem with it, just move on.

I don't see it that way at all. Dave's article explains clearly and concisely the entire ordering process from deposit to delivery so everyone can understand and set their expectations based on how the system works regardless of where they purchase the car. I was following the forum very closely when the 2014 C7 was being released back in October of 2013. There was a multitude of threads by people that placed their deposit with dealers that either had no allocations or very few allocations and waited months on end before determining there was not going to be a car delivered to them anytime in the foreseeable future. In the meantime, other people were taking delivery at other dealerships with cars that had constraints and it was very frustrating for the people that were waiting. This time around, it's spelled out for people and they can make an educated decision ahead of time on who they want to deal with. Of course not everyone that wants a C8 cares if they get it right away or even the first year, but for those who do, this information is gold.
