Impact on C8 Hi Performance versions?
IndyCar Will Go Hybrid in 2022
Chevy and Honda are the engine suppliers with Honda having lots of F1 experience in this kind of package. IndyCar is calling this a "single-source hybrid system," which should mean that one supplier will provide the multi-phase motor, inverter, and electric storage (which will come from brake regen) in order to ensure parity across engine manufacturers.
Be that as it may, GM will be working on integrating the whole drive train package. I AM NOT ADVOCATING THE GM V-6 , however a V-8 based hybrid system seems to have a real potential for a 2022 C8 performance version.

While I'm on the subject, I don't like batteries or giving up space and weight to them but I don't know of an alternative that has been commercially viable

More news.

I repeat "a hybrid C8 pace car leading the 2022 Indy hybrid field of race cars. With a hybrid C8 pace car model offered to the public." would be a shrewd marketing move.
In addition to Indy, From the article: "once IMSA declared its intent for hybrid prototypes, the room filled with major auto brands."
and "If you want us (manufacturers) to fund a sizable new racing program, it needs to include some form of hybrid powertrain. No hybrid, no money".

I was hoping that F1 would see the error in its' ways and go back to 17,000 rpm 3 liter engines or at least ditch these expensive hybrid systems that have priced all but one or two teams out of contention, but now Indy Car is going to go down the same route? LMP1 basically killed itself off after Audi, Porsche, and Peugeot all decided that the cost of their respective programs couldn't be justified anymore. Formula E would probably be a lot more popular if this were really a good idea.

I just puked a little bit.
Indy car going hybrid is a stupid idea.
Doesn't anyone learn from mistakes of others.
Only good thing is a battery and starter.
Sucks in F1 and will suck in Indycar.
