Which will hold it’s VALUE better? New 2020 C8 Corvette or 2020 Shelby GT500?????????
The reason I ask this is because I was looking at the GT500 before seeing the new C8 and now I have switched what I’m looking at.
This car will be used as my daily driver.
Finding a deal on the GT500 and paying MSRP I will be at $74,000
Going with the C8 I would do the Z51 package along with LT2 or LT3 witch would put me more or less right about the same price as the GT500.
So Not being biased either way. Say 4 or 5 years and 50k-60k miles witch will hold its Value more? And my how much do you think?
love to hear what you guys think on this subject on two great cars🇺🇸

Also you can not get an LT3 in the C8. The only engine available is the LT2. The Z06 TT V8 is rumored to be the LT7. Just helping you out.

GT 500 will hold a better value, but only if purchased right, start paying ADM's and that will eat up some of that, also depends on your term of ownership, condition, etc, if you mile it up as a DD then you will take a hit. In the end its a limited build, has the Shelby name and the c8 is going to be flying out after the first year. Personally for me the GT would be a buy and hold car and drive on the weekends. Perhaps if you can swing it buy a 6-10k camary to split up miles on and drive on crap days. my wife has a nice used mini cooper she has just for errands, airport lots, etc instead of running her big SUV around for and it has saved us a ton in wear and tear not to mention fuel. When I am not in the c7 or my ram 5500 for work I have a cool jeep LJ I picked up to tool around and save miles and run stuff over with. just my .02

If I was in your shoes, I'd be considering the GT350R.... a VERY special car with less than 2,000 units made so far (about 500 a year made). Everyone I know that has driven the car, including me, feels like it's an amazing driving experience and it has a cult following of current and exotic car owners that have bought them because of how good they are.
The GT500 is old news before it even hits the showroom floors IMO. I'm in on a C8 but if I had the cash I'd buy a GT350R and never sell it and add the other cars like the C8..

They are making 5000 GT500's and they are making (in first year alone) probably 36K (plus/minus) C8's.
Ultimately they are both depreciating assets and just assume lost money (C8 more). Depends what you buy it for also.
If you are daily driving the C8 is the most logical choice.
My Ford dealer offered me their GT500 at MSRP and I passed, while I love Raptor (had 4 of them), I'm just not a Mustang person--I had one in college, but I'm not in college anymore.
Buy what sings to you and good luck.

GT500 will hold its value better. They will be produced in far less quantities than C8s. That said, if you're putting 50k miles on in 5 years, neither is really going to hold its value.
Eh, I've driven both. The GT350R is indeed a wonderfully amazing car, which I would have a hard time shopping against a C7, but the GT500 is even more amazing. I'd probably only take the GT350R if a) I didn't have the extra money for the GT500, or b) it was destined for more of a track ca than a street car.

You’ve got to go with the limited production car. All other things being equal, the lower production number will always yield a better sustained value.
As an aside, I think Chevy misses out quite a bit by not producing occasional limited production Corvettes that are more than just color and stripe options. A 500 unit run of a car with a slightly detuned 5.5L motor out of the C7R, for example, might be a great seller. These kinds of cars do wonderfully well at building cachet of the marque.

l can't afford either, so luckily l don't have to give myself a headache because of this self induced dilemma!....(or does the OP just want to show us how much spare greenbacks he has lying around?)

Won't really matter since you plan to daily either car. That's mileage and wear and tear that will drive down the value. The GT500 will be lower volume, so it won't get hit as hard, but it won't be better by much.

Well it all depends on what reality you adhere to. A couple of years ago while driving home from Cars on Fifth show we, in our Corvette pulled next to a guy in a really beautiful Shelby 500 Mustang. I said, nice car! He said," I sell these things and I'd rather have your Corvette. I asked him why? "He said, most Corvettes are well taken car of while all these Shelby's tend to have been hammered by their owners and are very hard to sell."

I would think the GT500 will hold its value just fine. Smaller quantity compared to C8 and it maybe the baddest Mustang Ford ever makes without electric assist. That will be a huge factor IMO over the next 20-30 years
However, if you have to pay huge markups, then its a strong chance you will lose all of that.
Look at the used Dodge Demon market. Many sit for sale well over 100k and they don't sell. But once they get to 100k or less they sell within a couple of weeks. It was always a sub 100k car and that IMO is where they trade at (BJ excluded because thats a fantasy land for 99% of us)
I think the GT500 will be similar to the Demon. If you get one close to sticker you will be fine. If you have to pay 20k or more, kiss that money goodbye
