0-60 Time - FAKE NEWS
Maybe I missed it but knowing the wrath I'd face with the following statement made me triple check prior to posting. In typical GM fashion the reveal didn't reveal anything except the cosmetic's of the car. The car looks, pretty predictable. GM did not reveal ANY performance specs ANYWHERE I've read or seen. They did release physical properties such as weight, dimensions and power output.
I find it amusing the way the ENTIRE WORLD has jumped on a 0-60 claim of sub 3 seconds. I've not seen this officially announced ANYWHERE by GM. I did watch the reveal and Tadge pulled a "typical" off script Tadge statement, "We've heard of sub 3.0 second 0-60 times". You'd think the chief engineer would have a definitive 0-60 time at this state of the development and not relying on what he's "heard".
I see the laws of physics being a pesky thing in achieving a sub 3 second time in such a heavy and relatively underpowered car with only 305's on the rear. I don't believe a ~3,400+ lb car with only 495/470 and 305's can do a sub 3 second 0-60 even if they have a decent DCT. I'll reserve judgement on the GM/Tremec DCT. Remember, these are the same people who said the torque converter trans in the current car was as good as the PDK. Apparently NONE of these people ever drove a PDK.
I digress. If I'm incorrect on the 0-60 time I'm hoping someone will correct me AND point me to where GM has officially made this "announcement" IN WRITING. Until I'm corrected I call BS.
This was a typical BS GM reveal. All they really did was show us a refined "clay" model. It's their call as it's their reveal but one of these decades GM might reveal some real info at a reveal. Comical but people eat it up. How do you "REVEAL" a performance car without providing a SINGLE performance metric.... Pitiful.
Rick
P.S. I'm thinking Tadge is in the doghouse with Mark Reuss over his off script 0-60 "we've heard" statement.

The fastest 0-60 time of any entry Corvette ever — under three seconds when equipped with Z51 Performance Package.

You must not have paid attention during the reveal. It was clearly stated during the presentation that the Z51 equipped StingRay would do 0-60 in under 3 seconds.

I can't find it right now, but I did see it reprinted on a GM "fact sheet" the day after the reveal. Of course, that fact sheet may prove to be inaccurate. I do believe it was on slides at the reveal as well.

Not only did he say it on stage. They put a huge "0-60 in under 3 seconds" graphic on the screen behind him. The letters must have been 2 feet tall.
There is no doubt that is the claim. How real it is and what they needed to do to get there and whether or not anyone in the real world will be able to duplicate the feat, well that's another story all together.

How you is??? Still in the Merc? All is fine down here in Tulsa. I watched the reveal including slides but didn't see it. I'm sure if it was there someone will post it. I do believe I heard Tadge make the statement "....we've heard...". Also, I wonder why the FACT sheet you mentioned isn't prominently available. You'd think this would be something GM would have posted all over the place.
I'll believe it when someone shows the proclamation to me on official GM letterhead or website, until then, FAKE NEWS.

3.80 rear calendar ratio with Z51
ELSD with Z51
470 lb-ft on a flat torque curve
over 1,700lbs on the rear tires
305 wide PS4s with Z51
it adds up

Sort of interesting you felt the need to proclaim I'm full of **** when I was trying to get clarity on something that was driving me crazy AND that I was wrong about. I've helped a lot of people on this forum and not sure your juvenile response was warranted. Maybe it made you feel STRONG, whatever. I admit I was full of **** but I can also admit you're a dick...

Another NEW and sure to be productive contributor to our Forum. Korosion joined the Forum this month and he has a whopping 6 posts and is getting off to a good start. Maybe your Dad will give you a ride in his car or let you borrow it to take to the track. I'll meet you there and see who can turn a faster time. Real drivers can throw down impressive lap times even with hearing aids and glasses.
