That’s why two sets of clubs were in design plans
No worries, in case of a rear end accident, the two sets of golf clubs act as a shock absorption device. The graphite shafted clubs reduce the energy of the other car and cause a reverberation affect neutralizing the velocity of the accidents full impact. Just make sure you adhere to the bright yellow warning decal in the hatch lid, no metal shafted golf clubs permitted in the trunk area.
Attempted humor...seeing the car at Kerbeck on 26th. Good day all and stay cool!

There has to be protection for it to even be on the road. Cars have been designed to crumple for years so this will be no different. Will also depend on how hard it is hit as it has always been.

The C8 comes standard with a carbon extruded rear bumper beam to provide protection.
I suppose someone could have similar concerns about a FE automobile in a front-end crash.

Tadge talked about the unique rear bumper during the reveal event.

I'm betting any small hit to the rear is going to be very expensive because that carbon fiber piece they put across it. The entire carbon piece will more then likely have to be replaced every time even with little to no damage to it.

^. This is one of the things that has me wondering how insurance rates will be adjusted for this car. My gut feeling is that it is going to be a lot more expensive to repair than the previous generations.

Thats what insurance is for. You'll be fine. The transmission is going to take the impact and be screwed after that carbon extrusion goes. Thats good, because a smashed DCT means NEW CAR lol.

My Z06 was totaled less than 30mph. Zero front end protection. The FE has no real front cross beam and it pulled the frame inserts inward and cracked one side and broke off the welds and pulled out 3 inches. When I seen that I knew it was totaled.

The problem with that argument is front end crashes are usually the drivers fault and rear end crashes usually can be blamed on the other guy. I can't even imagine how expensive damage to the rear end willl cost. I'm sure insurance companies will let you know with rates before long. Specialty cars do not get rated in crash tests.

This doesn't look like major damage, does it? And yet, the estimate to fix it was over $56K and could be much higher once it got opened up so my insurance totaled the car. It was only 4 months old, had 800 miles on it and was $91K MSRP. So, a carbon fiber bumper at the rear isn't going to be as costly as all the electronics at the front of this 2018 Mercedes AMG C63S Coupe.

You just throw the car away. That’s what every Ford GT, Ferrari, Maserati, Mclaren owner does if the car gets hit from behind.

GM did not do a complete NHTSA simulated testing and confirm the car meets those and GM safety standards? On the contrary, GM has tested 30 C8’s to those and other safety standards to insure its safety; all of those thirty were sacrificed for our safety, GM’s liability and similar.

Why do people worry about things that are irrelevant to their use? If someone rear ends your C8, then I suppose you'll do the same as always....file the claim with the insured and either get it fixed or totaled. GM immediately starts developing repair techniques once the mules are running, especially if one gets crashed. The frame has components to it that can and can't be replaced.
This isn't some groundbreaking new idea....Huracans, Porsches and even MR2's had the engine behind the driver. It'll be fine.
