Given all the scoops and inlets grabbing and redirecting air flow, I'd have expected worse. I'd love to see what the CD of this car is. I'd bet .35, maybe higher.

Who gives a ****? There is nowhere in the US you can legally go that fast. On road courses anything over 160ish isn't needed. This car will probably hit right around 155-160 on the back straight of VIR. 180-190-200 all meaningless.

I bet it's way higher than .35. Probably .38-.40
C6 is .287 and will hit 186 with 400 HP and hit 190 with 436 HP.
My C6 Z06 is .34 and will hit 198,according to GM, with 505 HP. The C6 ZR1 is .35 and will hit 205, according to GM, with 638 HP.
Heck, Hennessey took a base C7 coupe with 460 HP, put a blower on it, to 600 HP and then a 100 shot of giggle gas, to 700 HP, and just managed to break 200 on a closed Toll road in Texas. I doubt the C8 has a lower Cd than the C7 base StingRay.
I kind of doubt that the C8 is anymore aero efficient than the C7, which is terrible.

82 year old grandma in her 350 HP C5 legally hit 171 on Hwy 75 in Idaho. Edsel Ford Jr legally hit 186 in his 2006 Ford GT. I think the top speed hit was 246 MPH, legally, by a Bugatti on that 2 lane highway in Sun Valley. Then a Tesla Model S hit 140 MPH.
It ain't cheap though to run fast. One run costs $2,000 plus lodging, food, gas etc. Much cheaper to do a HPDE at Daytona where you can hit 175-180 in a stock C6 Z06 or 175-185 in a stock C6 ZR1. One of our CF members does it all the time in his Corvettes. And it's legal.

For those of us that enjoy U.S. Mile events, the top speed as it relates to drag coefficient and horsepower is an interesting topic. There are a lot of Vettes at Mile events around the country and I promise you that there are folks that care. Good luck trying to find any comprehensive list of CD numbers published by GM. I can't wait for the first C8 to show up at the Texas Mile and see what kind of speed it runs with an LT2 and no mods.

I too voted before I saw the Z51 rule, however, I have hit 125mph in the Stingray and only 121mph in the Z06. Both cars are convertibles and had the tops down. I will say that the Z06 felt a lot more planted at those speeds but the Z51 was only modestly less stable. It still felt like I was only going about 75-80mph. The wind on the other hand...that's a different story.

I don't think people are frightened by the law, they are frightened to have their car impounded and then needing to bunk next to Big Gus in prison after getting caught going 190mph on a public road. Or death... because a squirrel runs under the car at 190mph and you die. That frightens some people too.

No Blower, just Nitrous. I think it hit 203.
