The wide body C7's were over 77inches wide which is wider then the C8 Stingray. So they still have room to widen the C8. They probably don't need to widen it as much as the C7 since the rear can already accommodate 305's. They might jump to a 325 tire which isn't as big of as jump as the 285 > 335 in the C7. Even if the C8 wide body exceeds the width C7 wide body, it most likely won't by that much and any extra width is most likely going to be a non issue due to the fact the mirrors can fold in.

Basically if your C7 GS, Z06 or ZR1 fit in your garage then the C8 Z06 probably will as well, you just might have to fold the mirrors in. GM isn't stupid. They seem to understand a lot about the target audience considering what they've been able to do for the C8 so I wouldn't worry too much, at least for now.

I was thinking that’s the exact reason why they finally offered power folding mirrors. Because they have to now.

I don't see them going less than 345-25-20s on the TT V8 models. It simply will need that much or more tire. In fact 355s make sense. Given that fact I can't imagine that there won't be a wide body. At any rate I will wait until it happens before I trade in the C7. However I am heading for the GS version. Without tracking the car I can't use the hp the Z06 gives me. Although I do expect the GS will be a small V8 with TTs. The Zora will be a bigger V8 with a lot higher boost and exotic internals as well as exotic construction added to handle the 1000 hp.

Remember the problems with the big engine mules blowing out the rear windows due to chassis flex.

Nothing like that ever happened. Tadge has already explained that. Read the Road and Track article.

That is sweet. 7.0 V8 n/a in that would be my choice. 575 hp would be good

[QUOTE=KCV;1599800582]Don’t know why anyone would want the C8 any wider. Getting too big as is.[/QUOTE

Because then it goes around corners better.

Folks thinking they'll have 345 or 355 tires are smoking crack. The car won't change this time. Hilarious.

I'd he be surprised if theres a GS version (wided c8 with LT2 engine), but they will probably make the hipo version wider.

One video I saw after the reveal said the interior was slightly wider and the seats were capable of going back further for one additional inch of leg room over the C7. Now I'm a little confused.

In fact I just found another media video from the reveal hangar site that said 1” more legroom. It may be that they also made the pilot side of the cockpit just a hair wider than the copilot side.

I’m in the same boat... specs published are reverse from what the people all said.

Unlike most I'd like to see gas-electric hybrid hitting the Vette. It's brilliant in the Panamera but that one is designed to both add performance but also allow for electric only operation for 20ish miles. In this case I'd prefer a performance only setup so you didn't need as big a battery and could save that weight. Even with the same engine it would hit at more than 600 hp and there are a lot of savory things that happen if you go to a smaller TT V8 engine. You could rev faster, be lighter, but still have big block V8 torque off the line thanks to the instantaneous torque from the electric side of the house. Now imagine something north of 600 hp going to all for wheels and what happens to that 0-60 run. I really believe if more people could drive a performance oriented hybrid they would change their tune quickly. I hated the idea but once I drove one I was converted in minutes.

You may be right. I looked up the Huracan and the 488 Ferrari and both have roughly the same size tires that the C8 is opening with. However it being Chevrolet I can't imagine them not adding flares to get more tire under the car when they also go up in hp. and we are used to steamroller tires under the car. I can't imagine the Zora running around with 1000 hp on these skinny tires.

Back on the Camaro analogy, the Zl1 has larger tires than the C8 at least upfront.

The width will be constrained by the IMSA width rules. It will not be any wider than the current C7 R being raced by the Corvette Team. They can make a car narrower and put longer control arms or wider wheels with fender extensions on it to get up to max width but they can't cut down the sides of the car to bring it into the class rules. As it stands right now a C7 Z with CCW Corsair 18x13 wheels offset to fit on a C6Z and mounting 345/35/18 tires is wider than 77 inches. I know, my previous trailer had a 77 inch wide bed and both rear wheels hung off the sides of the trailer.
