Having owned a 3.0 inline six turbo BMW, it’s a great motor especially coupled with a DCT. However, the Supra, on paper, can’t compare even with a C7. With the C8 and over 100hp more with DCT instead of ZF transmission, with both of them weighing nearly the same.....to me there is no debate. Cancel the order post haste lol.

These 2 cars are in a totally different league now! I would run like gump and buy the C8 over the Supra, when you park a C8 next to a new Supra it makes its appeal vanish, only maybe a 17 year old that plays need for speed on Xbox would tell you he likes the Supra more.

Wrong and not a correct comparison for the pics above! the Vette looks like that but the Supra does not, not even close, use google !! Plus it is not a Mid engine! different league.

No offense, but the Supra is downright ugly!

And that's not even how the real Supra looks like, the pic is just a concept and the actual production is much less exciting ! I don't think the C8 buyer will cross shop a Toyota dealer anyways...

Maybe YOUR Z06 will, but a stock C5 Z06 will not beat a new Supra. No way. And you can not compare a Supra to a C8, Mid engine vs front engine. The new Supra is massively underrated in horsepower. They are only making 30,000 Supra’s in 7 years, so about 4,200 a year. So the Supra will be more rare. I have been privy to private Supra information from Toyota, and it will be a beast. But not a C8 by any means. I work for Toyota, and I cannot even get a Supra.

If I personally had a deposit on a Supra now and just saw the C8 id pull up my shorts, Run and take my deposit back and go to the nearest Chevy Dealer and order a C8! I don't care even
if they build only 25 Supras a year ! And my second vehicle is actually a Toyota and I love Toyotas but like everyone is saying, the Vette is in a different League now!

I thought that the C8 would be Epic or Monumental.....I was wrong...

Because it Turned out it was actually cataclysmic and additionally also seismic in EPIC proportions !!

So I look at my phone the next morning after the reveal, and see that my younger brother, who never owned a sports car in his life, and at the same time is the biggest off-roader, Jeep, Hummer guy called my cell phone THREE times in a span of 30 mins. But he left no ,message. SO I call him back.

And the first thing out of his mouth is that he heard about the C8 Corvette and he said he is ready to buy one. My younger brother has two twin toddlers, and is early in life, but he swore up and down how he wanted me to know that he is getting the C8 Corvette.

Enough Said.

From a guy who told me his whole life he does not care for sports cars, and has owned Jeeps and Hummers his entire life....... and he would not shut up about how great the C8 is ! and how no matter what, he is getting one, period.

Cataclysmic def ( disastrous, catastrophic, calamitous, tragic, devastating, ruinous) for every other sports car maker

Seismic def ( having a strong or widespread impact -Earthshaking)

They tried to build a body around an engine that sticks up way too high. Everything got compromised. The result is beyond ugly IMHO. Otherwise it’s a pretty nice car in a number of ways, but I thought the older Supras were definitely nicer. It is a Z4. My nephew is a ricer. He was really looking forward to this new Supra. When he finally saw it, he just said, “What were they thinking?”

I realize styling is subjective and anybody could in good faith disagree, but IMO the new Supra is a singularly ghastly looking car.

It should never have been a successor to the MkIV.

Toyota specifically left horsepower on the table for its buyers. 40hp from just a MODEST tune. A down pipe and a tune, 500hp. We are scheduled to get our test Supra next week, so it should be a fun week at work. In stock form the Supra’s have been putting down around 320-330 at the wheels, and over 400 ft/lbs. Several 0-60 times in under 4 seconds, and 12 flat quarter mile times. So it is not slow. I’ll drive the car next week.

Sure that’s great, but you can say that about any car with regards to mods, particular turbo cars. And while the B58 engine might be tunable, I’m certain we will eventually read about those guys who tune their car and frantically try to remove it after they blow the motor or something else bad happens because they don’t want to spend thousands to repair their car because if Toyota knew it were tuned, they wouldn’t cover the warranty,

The Supra should be less $, or a lot more power for that price. Who are buying these cars? The supra crowd can't afford them. That's going to be a flop. The look is growing on me, but it needs more at that price point. Cars are getting, and have been getting way too much for the average buyer. Everyone needs to finance, even the used models.

Of course my modded C5 Z06 will destroy a new Toyota Supra.......But it seems that even a stock C5 Z06 is close and people have posted better times than below with stock C5 Z06s without any mods. Not bad for an antique Vette, equaling or besting the New Supra performance wise, Stock for Stock.
  • The 2020 Toyota Supra achieved a 3.8-second zero-to-60-mph time in Car and Driver testing.
  • The fifth-gen Supra also impressed with a 12.3-second quarter-mile time at 113 mph.

Stock C5 Z06>2020 Toyota Supra

Sometimes you just gotta love what Corvette has accomplished. Everyone has to play catch up it seems.

If you can get the Supra launch edition at MRSP, buy it and flip it.

Sounds like you are getting a deal then. List the car now and sell it for a small profit before you even pick it up. If there is nobody chomping at the bit to take a car that is supposed to be in short supply then you have your answer on resale as well. The car is gonna take a big hit in its first year once C8's start hitting dealer showroom's.

It's an ME V8 vs a Rear Engine 6 cyl. Of course the C8 should cost a few bucks more but it will be worth every penny...
