The end of a soft top Corvette era?
I love the new look and everything about the new C8 but it looks like if you want a fully convertible soft top super car the C7 is the last Vette you can buy in that configuration.
Do you agree?

It would appear so... Unfortunately.... My last two have been soft tops, and of course manual... Both options seem to have disappeared.

Yes-soft top, yes-manual trans, and yes-to front engine. Times, and cars change...…..

Hardtop all the way because you get the best of both worlds, quiet like a coupe and open-top when you want. Trust me once you get one you would never look back.

I have wanted a 458 Spider for quite a while due to it's beautiful hardtop vert execution...but they are prohibitively expensive. Now the Corvette is offering a similar design and I couldn't be happier. The soft tops never appealed to me due to the typical sagging canvas look on them after a while. The C7 Couple allowed me an open top experience via the targa ut I would definitely like to have an even more open experience.

The first Corvette was a convertible. It was meant to be a convertible.

Did they show how the top will open? I do like the look of the hard top better on C7 but would have liked the convenience of pushing a button to open the top. I do open my top on C7 Z06 and look forward to the C8.

Have you driven the C7 soft-top? My GS is quiet and I can take the roof up/down in 20 seconds and while driving up to 30 miles a hour. Which I do all the time, So I end up driving with the top down way more than any other Targa tops. Beside there is way more wind over my bald head when I want too.

As long as it is a convertible. Hard top convertible sounds very interesting to me. Love my C7 GS Vert and if the C8 vert works out, I would have to consider the C8 Z06 Vert, but the lack of a manual is a big problem for me. Why can't they have a DCT that allows non-sequential gear selection instead of only sequential? That I would give a serous try.

If you look back there were periods where a convertible was not available. For me most of the time it becomes way too hot to drive with the top down and at my age and the traffic I encounter the clutch becomes my enemy. So I am excited about the C8. I think Chevy hit a home run. I don't know how they can sell this for under 60k unless maybe it's being subsidized by GM. I believe this will sell worldwide. They are even making a model with steering on the right side.

A retractable Hard Top convertible was the #3 new feature I was hoping to see on the C8 right behind a DCT transmission and the mid-engine layout... Ferrari got it right for a mid-engined car back in 2011 with the 458 Mercedes had a Hardtop Convrwrtibke WAY back in 1996 with the SLK and really it should have been available on at least the C6

The batmobile buttresses shown in the preliminary vert pictures are necessary to hold the hinges for a retractable hardtop. Be interesting to actually observe the visibility from the driver's seat with top up and retracted given the rear wing and buttresses.

I love the windy sunny experience way more, love my soft top C7.
Maybe GM will find a mechanical way to have a retractable roof on the C8 although right now it doesn't seem like it. It looks like they when for more cargo space in the back behind the engine, which most Mid engine cars don't have instead of leaving room for a retractable roof
