Lame 495 HP shocks me

The kind of person who posted this likely doesn’t even own a Corvette or anything of real power. I don’t care who you are, 495 is plenty and it’ll knock your socks off. Is there much faster? Not at 60k...

What's top speed?
0-150 or 100?
It will get there in a few years but to not make 500+ is lame.
Everyone will run to buy it then higher HP will pop and start a new round of buying. GM's last gas sports car.

At $60,000 the 495 is very acceptable. It’s almost the same power to weight ratio as the C6 Z06, which I had. There were guys running high tens at 128 in that car (most magazine times were around 11.5/125).
I must admit the C8 is interesting me more and more.

I think it has plenty of engine for the combined package... it's all about how it works together in the real world after all, right?
The "under 3 seconds" just shocked me. I was thinking maybe 2.7, or 2.8 for the full-on ZR1 version later on, but wow!
My 2011 GS with a 'measly' 430 HP just about scares me when I stomp on it.
Speaking of the engine, I'd hate to have to do any serious work on it, looks like it's really nestled in there!
I guess they'd pull it out from the bottom to do the serious stuff?
Don't imagine there's a whole lot of need to get that close to it maintenance-wise unless something goes haywire though thank goodness.
It an astounding car. I'm more amazed the more I learn about it. How they did all this in 5-something years is mind-bending.
Man, did they ever go berserk on this!

There is always an idiot somewhere who needs to be told its better to say nothing at all than to blurt out a stupidity.I hope that idiot realizes who they are.

It will easily go low 11 s . 0 to 60 in under three seconds and the engineer mentioned how the first four gears are closely spaced for quick acceleration.Dual clutch tranny and light weight.Stock c 7 vettes have gone 11.7 this will go way faster.

From a performance standpoint, it is more than enough.
From a marketing standpoint? I absolutely cannot understand how GM couldn't find another couole ponies to hit the 500 mark. It wouldn't shock me in the least if the next Mustang was there, which would become much harder to explain.
Unless of course there are plans for an upgraded vase motor in a few years

I'm not bashing the car cause i really think they hit a home run but what makes you say light weight? It's gonna be about 3600lbs. Wouldnt really call that light weight. The 3300lbs weight is a dry weight. meaning no fluids in the car. A lot of the euro car companies love to list dry weight lol not sure why that would ever matter. Adding the 250-300lbs for fluids makes it a 3600lbs car.
