I doubt GM is making any money if they actually sold it for $60,000. Acura NSX has Honda economies of scale and Audi R8 has VW economies of scale, and both can’t go below $160,000. Ferrari F8 Tributo is $270,000 starting. Ferrari has the fattest profit margin in the auto industry, but even that car costs at least $130,000 to make. I have no idea how GM can make the C8 for $60,000, probably losing money on every single one at that price. Amazing specs and amazing price.
Corvette is extremely profitable for GM to the tune of hundreds of millions per year. Yes, hundreds on millions. In 6 months GM will sell more C8's than R8's, NSX's and F8's combined over their entire lifespans. Thats economies of scale. While there is only 1 carry part from the C7 the C8 engine is a GM corporate engine. It will be in many vehicles. In years to come GM will probably build 100,000 of the engines, or versions of the engine, per year. Thats economies of scale.

I think it looks spectacular. While i'm not crazy about the rear, i speculate that it'll look great in person.

Someone above said it looks like a "run of the mill Ferrari or Lamborghini" - - - oh shucks, what a shame...

I'm looking 2-3 years out... my only decision is whether i get rid of my C7Z now to avoid additional depreciation or keep it and trade it in a couple years.

Default The scoop

My gripe is that side scoop. The way it looks like it was just added on an already finished car. It doesnt intergrade with the body. It adds a odd edge. Renderings where it blends with the fender better look amazing. But thats not the case. From the front it reminds me of an ooold NSX

Love the car, hate the front tire size. Put some 285’s on the front and add a trailer hitch so I can tow my track tires to the track and it’s perfect!

I will reserve judgement until I can see it with my own eyes but man....
the guy that designed all the wheels must have been the wheel designer for the Pontiac division. They look like cheesy Grand Prix or GTP wheels

I think we should start a friendly CF pool with a prize for the first photo of a C8 in the wild where the owner slaps either a Ferrari or Lambo logo on the car.

As soon as a Z06 equivalent convertible comes out, I'm in. There's nothing about this car I dislike from what I've seen. Can't wait to see it in the flesh next month.

Overall I like the look of the car and love the fact they kept the targa top. The only issue I have with the design currently is the rear. Looks like the ugly a** Camaro to me. Other than that I think GM did a great job.

As as far as the interior goes I like it. Not sure about that giant row of buttons but we’ve known about that for some time.

You guys who love it, have at it. They couldn't get the A8 right in the C7. Lets see how they do with this automatic.
Just my opinion.
A “run of the mill European supercar”. WTH? Don’t they call that an oxymoron? Like jumbo shrimp? There’s nothing run of the mill about Ferraris and Lambos.

Price: INCREDIBLE
Looks: HORRIBLE Are they going to finish the front end? Did someone's pencil slip in designing the side scoops? Were they all on LSD when they designed the rear? Is Peters really gone, please - no more Aztecs!!
Performance: Street king! Gona surprise a lot with real world performance
Interior: Star Trek good
Electronics: Good features, dependability to be proven
Engineering: ANOTHER INCREDIBLE

PRICE AND ENGINEERING ENOUGH TO OVERCOME STYLING MESS? I SURE HOPE SO...

I thought I would not like it but the more I watched last night I actually got a funny feeling in my gut. Like oh my god I actually want a new corvette.

I haven't felt that way since I saw the commercials for the 84 vette- when I was 8.

I know if I said what's not to like I could find someone that doesn't like every single part of the car but they can't make a car where every part pleases all the people all the time

I keep coming back in my mind 0-60 in under 3 for under 60....

Dont own a C5 just ordered a c7, but I really dig a good looking c5. Might be my favorite. I am a bit mixed on the new c8, but it is a hell of a car.

I love the "looks like a Camaro" comments.

If you've seen new car introductions and forum comments in the past you know how this goes...

The haters end up buying and loving it. It just takes them time to get used to change
I don't understand why you or anyone else cares what someone thinks about the C8. It's like you feel insulted because your Dad designed it or something. I don't like Brussels sprouts. Would you call me a hater because I posted it? I never cared for the C7. And guess what? I never came around to love it or buy one. I love the look of the C8, but because there is no manual transmission version, I won't be buying one. I love cars, but it doesn't have to be a Corvette. If I decide to buy another vehicle, I will find something in my price range that has a stick shift. That's what I like. I own vehicles with an automatic transmission, but when it comes to high performance sports cars, I want a stick shift with a clutch pedal. I already own a mid engine sports car with a manual transmission, so my bucket list box is already checked. I can survive without owning a C8, but will enjoy looking at them.

With the camo off the details really pop through. I was on the fence about the looks with camo but now I like. Still want to see it in person though.

Assuming the engineering was done right and this isn't a dumpster fire when when people actually start driving them...

Count me in for a Z06 in a few years!

Stunning.....love the profile of this car and think GM nailed it. Sub 3sec zero to 60. Matching the feel of the ZR1 on initial take off...... unbelievable!
Can't believe all you would be design engineers sitting here picking it apart.
Great job GM!!! Thanks for keeping the fire going!

I think I saw some one complain about only one golf bag?

Looking at the trunk picture the bag they use appears to be a full sized cart bag. It looks like a deep compartment. I wonder if two carry bags would fit stacked. I know my carry bag is about half the thickness of my dad's cart bag.

Gm will make their money on repairs. They will be the only ones with the tools to work on it.

I have zero gripes. I love this car from any angle in any color. It is absolutely gorgeous and an outstanding platform/design.
