C8 will be the BEST halo car. Think Audi R8, Ford GT, Nissan GTR, Acura NSX (1st gen lol) and NOT LEXUS LFA.
I will miss the quad pipes though. But maybe this is just like the c6 to c7 missing the round headlights crowd lol, idk, time will tell.
What a time to be alive! USA USA USA!!!

Doubt it. This will be fun for enthusiasts, but at the end of the day Chevrolet is a truck and SUV company.

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
All the emphasis today is in Trucks and SUV's. Ford is even getting completely out of the sedan business. Everyone wants "crossovers".
The Corvette has always been a Chevy Icon. I don't see this one being much different. I just hope they sell enough to convince GM brass to make a C9 someday.

Go look a the LED front/head lights on modern cars ,esp. our C7s. The R8 introduced that design to the world.
And, halo cars are almost never manufacturing leaders. Sometimes halo cars can get so far out into left field as to lose relevancy with the market (think LaFerrari), but usually not. I expect a large percentage of Ford SUV owners know about the Ford GT. Now, whether the GT helped Ford sales any, that's a tougher question to answer.

Have a good one,

Corvette is not a halo car. LaFerrari, Ford GT, 918, etc are halo cars.

Seems to me "halos" can come in all sizes.

The Corvette have always been the all Americans dream machine and I don’t care about the R8.

This thread is my fear for the Corvette down the road.
The R8 is boring.. it was cool for about 2 years and it just faded away.
This C8 is going to be compromised for cost, mass production, ingress egress, cargo, performance, ease of tech access at local dealers etc etc. Just TOO MANY THINGS.
That compromise means design and function NOT being Ferrari or Lamborghini "special" which translates to R8.. you're right OP. I only hope you're going to be wrong.

Off topic, but man, this looks awesome. Would really like to crank this up and pull an acre with it, in under .32 mins.
IMHO, after all the hoopla, the C8 will integrate into the Corvette culture just like the previous generations have and hopefully pull in a few younger enthusiasts just like the C7 did/does. I also agree that the general population remains brand loyal with Chevy's trucks/SUVs but those folks won't buy a Vette because they own a Chevy truck, it's the other way around. Tick Tock, 2 more days.
