[PIC]C8 Rear Bumper

When the C7 reveal happened I was completely put off by the rear end. Still am - otherwise that car is awesome. Seemed like the back was designed by a different team than the rest of the car.
This C8 leak is a strong improvement, but the rear still looks like the back was designed by a different team. I'm not sure why the design teams can't make things feel consistent. I think GM/Chevy is doing way too much brand design and not allowing the Corvette to be "different" enough from its other model lines - which is why you feel "Camaro" when you look at it. I think its being done on purpose. They want to sell Camaros when people see this go by - not just more Corvettes. That's why the front end of other Chevy models look similar too. So far the branding hasn't hit the front of the vette yet, and hopefully it wont.
I will say the taillights look pretty sweet at night - maybe they will look better at more angles that show the convex nature of the rear end. At least its getting better and not worse.

First of all, I just wanna say "I'd drive it"
Next, this is the same thing I said when the C7 rear came out - yes it'll look Camaro / Chevy-ish because......BRAND IDENTITY
Remember, through it all - It's still a Chevy

I can just imagine what folks n here would be saying if the C8 was done near exact to that 458. I think the C8 is a vast improvement to the C7, and I own one. The rear end looks exactly like all the camo shots seen and Chaz’s renders. Why was anyone really expecting something different? I’ll bet 85% of the naysayers in here will be proudly driving one of these around in a couple years and posting on this same forum how they hate the new design spy shots of the upcoming C9. And going back to designs of the C5 and C6? Give me a break. Anyone who wants that can buy a low mileage garage queen. Looks like a Camaro? Of course there are going to be brand similarities between these cars because Chevy wants it that way. This car overall however will not remind anyone of a Camaro, and I would bet on that.

Idk. The problem is that there's only so much that can be done to:
1. Provide storage for us
2. Fit behind the entire powertrain
3. Make it fresh
To me the biggest thing I am going to continue to dislike is that the exhaust is pushed out to the corners... again.. hello C4... if people claim to like this? It's only because history repeated itself and they forgot how dated that is...
For any nut swinger to claim a C7 rear looks more like the Camaro rear than this it's preposterous. Ferrari and McLaren rear ends are beautiful. This car copying that layout for the first gen looks cheap and cheesy. About as fresh as when the Chevy Cruze replaced the cobalt. On a higher level.
We will all get used to it. But like the C6 nose which was very bland and not attractive to me (yet the C7 looks wicked. I owned both) the first attempt (c6 exposed headlamps) they'll learn from and the next go around they will get it right (c9). Chevy will dump the "we need 2 golf bags in there" and it resemble the higher end exotics.
I wonder how they got away with no lower rear reflector? I have mine tinted because its ugly. And yes the C8 is new looking as we've been starring at the C7 since 2013... I think the Z06 and ZR version will be better..
But... C8 will never carry the menacing side view BECAUSE it's a comprimise ME car for 60k. The C8r will. And hopefully the Z06 and ZR versions carry that theme.
And as for the rear? It's just the exhaust size and placement that kills it. I expected a huge C5 abomination back there because ME.
C9 is gonna rock in looks and refinement compared to this imo...it'll be C7 to C6 level improvement. That's also history repeating itself

You can get away with no reflector if the tail lamp itself has a built in reflector iirc.
And as far as looking like a camaro, I was saying this is way closer than the C7 tail was. The whole back just seems... lazy? It's hard to say, need to see it in person. C7 still never grew on me.

Jesus, 10 pages about a bumper? Man you all need a life.
And why is that Chevrolet always uses some sort of Smurf blue? Why can't they make a non cartoon blue? My 24 year old BMW M3 is Avus blue. It's an awesome color.
My hope is that the offer Long Beach Red as an option to the stupid torch reds...

AGAIN. AGAIN. AGAIN. THEY DON'T HAVE A FANTASY OR WHAT? I *UCKING HATE IT.
C7'S REAR IS THE WEAKEST PART IN THAT CAR. SAME GOES TO THE NON MCE CAMARO.
AND THIS LOOKS THE SAME. AND THAT FUGLY NON ACTIVE SPOILER.
This REAR is going to look like it came from the world of Grand Theft Auto.

WOW. Could they make it look any more like a Camaro? So hideous, and way too many harsh angles.
Looks like I'll be waiting for the C8.5 when they refresh the rear end after getting everyone's negative feedback.

Who cares if it gets taken down Chazcron had this as identical as possible months ago... other than the side scoop shape and obviously 4K pics vs renders... we know what the car is going to look like... I would say 85% of it easily.

This C8 rear end is just bad, I don't care what name is on the car. It looks like a cheap chaotic mess. If this car doesn't look good I can guarantee you I won't have one in my garage.

Disappointing. There is nothing I like about this. The rest of this car better be amazing or I am out. Lazy design. When I said years ago the C7 Z06 was they sexiest car ever, I wasn’t wrong.
