Will the C8 come with a V8 AND a 6/4 cylinder option?
I've been listening to various C8 video's and I'm starting to think the C8 is going to come in V8 and a 6 or possibly 4 cylinder option. This could be to secure a position in the world market, most likely Europe.
The various video's are strikingly different in sound and the unmistakable roar of a V8 can be clearly heard in some of them, and yet others sound very much like a 6 cylinder, quite possibly with turbo's. To truly take on the world, and GM desperately needs to become much more of a global presence, the various engine's make perfect sense.
What say the oracle's of the CF?

It will be like the mustang. The v6 being the inferior version while the turbocharged being the faster model. Hopefully not lol. I still want a twincharged v8 with electric motors in the front. Oh yeah.

There has been no info that should lead anyone to that conclusion. Dont watch the idiots that make youtube videos, they are clueless and many just repeat things seen on this forum.

I believe that one company has the ability for their V8 engine to drop to one cylinder. Wouldn't surprise me if the C8 has the same.
EDIT: now I remember who that company is..... Chevrolet...…..

They may as well put a Hamster size cage in it, people will still buy it.

I'm waiting for the 2.0 liter 3- cylinder hybrid electric. Why not? It's as good a prediction / guess as any.

The title of this thread should be "How to Ruin a Good Car". Some manufacturers forget that the character of an engine matters just as much as the horsepower.

Chevrolet and Honda are the two current suppliers of racing engines for the Indycar series. Their powerplants produce between 550 and 700 horsepower, depending on the track type. They are 2.2-liter twin-turbocharged, direct-injected V6 engines that run at 12,000 rpm during the race.

V8 and V6 are on the way for the C8

I do not know much about the European emission laws. Does anyone here know enough about cylinder deactivation to know if a 6 or 4 cylinder active v8 would pass European emissions?
GM could potentially ship the v8 to Europe with all EU vehicles being placed in permanent 6 cylinder mode in the engine's tune. This would provoke more sales from EU citizens as they know they are buying a V8, they only need to unlock the car's tune to have a v8. However, unlocking the computer may prove to be difficult.

It probably will have that multiple cylinder deactivation GM was talking about a few months back. From all the videos I've watched... sounds like a V8 most of the time...
