The 2014 C7 Coupe first hit showrooms in mid SEP 2013. C7 Convertibles hit the showrooms Q1 2014. So, the C7 Convertible showed up about a half year after the Coupe. Not saying the C8 timeline will follow the C7 timeline, but it wouldn’t be the first time the Coupe came before the Convertible.

Someone on here posted that their relative is an engineer with GM and confirmed no manual trans and that the convertible will be released in a "subsequent model year". The 2020 could be a short run from December to spring '20 and then they release the '21 model in the summer and get back on a 'normal' car industry timeline for model year releases.
Yes... C5 1997 was coupe only. Convertible came out as a '98. If it's a few months delay I can deal with that, but not sure how that affects my spot in line to order the car. I.e. if my number comes up and no vert, I know I can pass, but do I go to the back of the line? Or, do I go into a "convertible" queue? We shall see.

OK. That's different. The last 3 generations saw the convertible come out 6 months later. I always assumed (assuming the coupe DOES start production in December) that the convertible would be April/May 2020. Now, if the 2020 model year is going to be short (2021 model year starting in June), then that would be fine for the convertible.
PS. Assuming the above scenario IS what happens, I wonder if the Z06 will intro in MY2021 also.

My guess is that we only see the Stingray coupe with pushrod engine initially. Demand for that will be robust anyway. IMO it would be illogical for GM to put out the entire “smorgasbord” right off the bat when customers are already lined up to buy the “blue plate special”.. (save the really good stuff for those of us that don’t need to eat at 4 oclock).

Yep, a 6-month or later delay in convertible production start-up has become Corvette new-gen SOP. In my view, it always better to keep things as simple as possible when ramping up production of a new model.

I just got an email this morning from the largest Corvette dealer ( dealer name withheld) confirming that the C7 will still be in production/manufactured on the assembly line thru August.
Looks like the December start date (earliest) for C8 production is most likely accurate as Tool Hoarder stated .

Those that have claimed to have deposits on a new C8 at Chev. dealers', will advise whether or not they were able to order a collapsible hardtop, when the Chev. dealer calls for their order. It's unlikely that the collapsible hardtop will be available from the git go......but we'll see. ....

don't have to eat at 4:00, but the advantages are less traffic, better/closer parking, easier to get table, happy hour, service is better and faster, senior discount on bill, still light out leaving more of the day to still enjoy.
hopefully your retirement plan will allow you to get in on a good situation sooner than later.
i agree that coupe first(beta version?), vert 2nd, and then more variants(awd?).

Back in 1957, when Ford first offered it, we called it a retractable hardtop. It was a completely different car from the 1957 Ford convertible that I had. I never called my convertible a soft top convertible(I did call it a bunch of other names) and a friend that had a 1959 retractable hardtop, in 1966, never called it a collapsible hardtop. A friend today, in 2019, has a Lexus with a retractable hardtop. I've never heard her call it a collapsible hardtop,

Ah Joe, you bring back a great memory. I had an aunt that had a Skyliner when I was a kid. I thought it was the coolest car ever!
