"In honor of jpee"
The general lines of the SF90 are ok. But the taillights and headlights? A mix of Camaro and Honda. Not a fan.
On the subject of C8 looks and performance. The fixation a relatively large group of corvette fans have with the latest Corvette being on the level of the latest Ferrari is one of the most annoying things about the community. What is that all about anyway? Wreaks of inferiority complex. Enjoy the car for what it is when it arrives. Performance will be great but it will never be a Ferrari or Lamborghini and that should be a good thing.

And the above post by Perk speaks, IMO correctly, to the point of copies not being a good thing for at least a couple reasons. But being a Corvette vs. being all of what some of the exotics are about and what they cost to maintain, is not so good a thing. For instance, I still like looking at a 60's 300SL roadster, or the more exclusive Gullwing. But if I had to "afford it"---nope, wouldn't happen for me. And I'd guess for many current Corvette owners, too.

AGREE TOTALLY with the thread starter! Blow us away!! I have seen some pretty cool renders though, but yeah Chaz's is not going to do it for me. Don't buy the cost for body panels, or design, it doesn't really apply anymore. A tricked out 3-D printer and a dell laptop can pull that stuff off these days. LOL! Pretty much though!
Ferrari's are expensive because..ready..they intentionally keep supply LOW!
GM could easily copy that or come up with something similar and WOW the heck out of a lot of the younger folks. Folks they need to keep this Corvette train going another 60 years! I get the whole keep the "Vette look," but if GM's goal is to draw more young folks in (not just us old timers), then it wouldn't hurt to make the car more Ferrariesc looking (word?). Inmho that's what GM SHOULD do without alienating their base - TOUGH to do!
I so want my kids, kids to have the "new" Corvette someday. Won't be long and Corvettes will adapt and become electric. I remember 10 years ago right here on the forum folks were afraid of the whole DOD. There were whole threads of "debate" on the audacity of DOD in a Vette! LOL! Now it's great!
Corvette will have me cuz as long as I've been alive Corvette is Americana, but it wouldn't hurt to throw some exotic look into it because it doesn't cost GM any more $ to design.

That Ferrari is Pure Sex on wheels.
No Viagra needed for this bitch.
No way the C8 will look half as good.
You put a GM engine and trans in that SF90 Stradle, sell it for less than $120,000 and there will be a ******* wait list for years.
I'd buy 2 of the *******.
Car was only unveiled a few hours ago and people are already complaining the back end looks like the C8.

Elise/Exige actually did sell fairly well enough to continue. Forum dealer Criswell (Furman's home) was also a Lotus dealer and sold a bunch of them. I had mine serviced there, which was how I originally met Mike Furman.
The Elise/Exige is no longer street legal in the US because Lotus did not want to change the body and frame design to meet the US 2.5 mph impact "no major damage" requirement. It would not pass without major (and very undesirable) design changes.
During the period when it was sold here, Lotus had a 4-5 year exemption, if I recall correctly. It's still being manufactured and sold in the EU. You can also import one here to race, but it can't be registered. The bottom line is that it was/is a successful and highly desirable car, and good used ones are now commanding sales prices for more than they cost new, more than a decade later.

I call BS on a Ferrari costing any more to build than a Corvette. Manufacturing is manufacturing! Ferrari’s are that high because by design. Only build a few and tell everyone it’s the greatest thing ever built and everyone wants one. It’s marketing and very good marketing I might add. In the ‘80s the Corvette would out run almost anything. Still didn’t cost like some others.

Sure it does. With Ferrari you don't have shared parts across 45 different car lines. Hence higher cost of parts. You don't have builds of up to 50k per year, instead about 2k, as a result the profit margin must be higher per car to recoup your costs. And Ferraris aren't built to get you onto the lot to buy another car which the profits end up going into the same bank account, Ferraris are built to get you onto the lot to buy a Ferrari. All these factors create a higher build cost.

Pretty much anyone can put together something impressive, if price is no object. That's not even hard.
